Best wheel cleaner??

I have used all those sprays in the store, spray on, hose off. I have baked on brake dust it seems like badly on my front wheels. I have tried never dull also. I have tried scrubbers, but the bristles are not strong enough to get in those corners at each spoke. The rear wheels are fine. I guess they were not cleaned for awhile and it baked on or whatever. What is the best wheel cleaner and scrubber to get that dirt off in the corners? There factory infiniti g35 wheels.

here's what we use up here at the shop. It's quite potent but will clean even the nastiest crap off the most baked on rim in mere seconds.

eBay Motors: J.D. Aluminum/Stainless Steel Cleaner Gallon (item 150113425664 end time Nov-13-07 02:47:25 PST)

anything cheaper or is that a good deal? I see its a big 1 gallon and i havent even tried the stuff. what do you do spray it on and let it sit, scrub off and then rinse? What do i scrub with, i need something strong to really brush the wheel. It says acid base, wont that ruin the wheels?

Read the instructions. You mix it 1:1 spray it on. only if you let it set only let it sit for a couple of seconds. (it's also best to wet your rim down first with water) and then simply spray off. If your rims are aftermarkets I would probably advise against this. But I've never had any issue with this product on stock manufacture's rims. It literally only takes seconds to entirely clean your rim no matter how nasty they are. And $11 for a gallon is a steal in any market. ( I get it for $14/gal from my supplier)

FWIW Duragloss aliminum cleaner does just as good of a job and comes in smaller packages. Just to costly for me to keep in stock here at the shop for how much I tend to use.

Sounds similar to Meg's Wheel Brightener..some strong stuff!

I think the trick will be finding the right tool..that seems to make more of a difference than the chemical

'I had good results taking some \"baked on\" crud off my \'95 Camry factory alloys using Megs ScratchX.\r\n\r\nJust used a small MF towel. Worked well, didn\'t seem to harm the wheel in any way. Already had it, so didnt\' have to buy another product.'

I had good luck removing "baked on" crud from my '95 Camry factory alloys using Megs ScratchX. Already had the ScratchX. Figured the alloys were painted and ScratchX is made to use on paint, so did a spot test and it worked nicely. Proceeded to do all 4 wheels. This was a used car I bought and the wheels had been somewhat neglected.

Used a small MF towel. Was able to get in around the spokes with one finger. Took a little time and effort, but turned out good, and didn't have to buy an extra product.

Clay might do it, but an acid wheel cleaner like Meg's Wheel Brightener diluted 3:1 will melt it away effortlessly. If they're painted or clearcoated (or basically not polished aluminum), you're good to go. It's also a good way to get the barrels completely clean.

Just curious, have you ever tried Amazing Rolloff? If yes, how does it compare?

Can't say I have. I guess I got lucky in the fact that I only had to try just a couple of products before I found the one that works best for me. Someone tipped me off to the durogloss product (which is actually it's marine RV grade line up if there's a difference at all) It worked just flawlessly. But a small bottle of it was in the $10 range IIRC so I took that to my normal supplier and asked what they had that was compareable and they showed me the JD line (which I guess is a janitoral supply line rather than an automotive supply line) tried it per instructions and haven't had any need to look back since.

so JD alum/SS cleaner or megs wheel brightner? is megs really much stronger than the store bought spray on hose off products? And the acid free ps281 or whatever that is

so dilute 3:1 means put in 3 8oz or whatever and then put in 1 8oz of water?

Surf City Garage wheel cleaner might get the job done. It works a little better than Amazing Roll-Off. You can also try Mr. Clean magic eraser.

From what I have used Eagle All Wheel and Tire Cleaner is fairly potent stuff but did no harm on my chrome or clear coat rims. Have you tried that? I always have to scrub using some a polish like Mothers Chrome or Plastic Polish to remove some embedded stuff.

Yeah I had the 18 inch CC infiniti G35 rims and always clean the front face part with Eagle one Wheel and tire clean and the backside with Greased lighting and I also use six brush to clean those rims. Now I have the 19 inch Chrome infiniti rims and still use the Eagle one wheel and tire cleaner with 6 new brush's.

The opposite of that... 3:1 would be 3 parts water to one part product... ie: if mixing 32 ounces of product, there would be 24 ounces of water to 8 ounces of product..

If making 4 gallons of product, 3 gallons of water to one gallon of product..
