Best Wax For Black Cars

polishing is the key in my opinion. Sealed with a sealant.

This is what you need to polish first. Then there is no question what wax to use Pin. SOUVERAN.....ZOOM-ZOOM.......
 
I tried CG butter wet wax and PB Nattys Blue. I guess I am the odd ball. Nattys does what a nuba does and reacts. They look nice for a short time and loss slickness and shine. For me I'll take Jeffs Werksat Acryllic Prime and Jett over any wax I have to date. I AM going to try CG 5050 this weekend on my Black car. So how it does.
 
For dark colors, Souveran and Natty's Blue (heck I use NB on light colors lol). Natty's Blue looks just as good if not better then the high end waxes, and god I love that smell lol. Goes on and off easy, Souveran has a slight edge there as you can apply and wipe away immedietley. I kinda of like buffing a haze though. Pry the deepest and wettest combo I ever saw was RMG with two layers of Natty's Blue on my friends black e39 M5, wow!
 
I think yall may be missing the point.:nixweiss Yes, he is asking for a black wax, but since he asked about turtle wax cleaner wax and mentioned that he may need a hood repaint, there are probably defects that a pure wax wont cure.



You are going to need a buffer, machine polish, and then wax. Just putting pure wax over top of bad paint is not going to do anything. I recomend AIO if it is oxidation, and Optimum Polish if it is swirled up.:up
 
If you want to use a sealent, its hard to top Meguiars #21 for looks on dark cars IMO...

Then if you want to take that amazing gloss and add some carnuba to make it dripping wet its hard to top Nattys Blue. Same truck about a week later with Natty ontop of the 21.

Agreed on #21..I love it on mine! Definitely one of the better sealants on black



Those colored Turtle waxes always scared me...I remember using the red version on a car in my pre-Autopian days..it looked pretty good at first, but went away quickly.



A good paint cleaner such ColorX or Klasse AIO would work to remove the oxidation rather than cover it up..but I'm not sure how generous you want to be LOL

I probably should have said, "Best was for beaten old black paint".

Because that's another story versus maximizing an already clean/new black paint.

Also, I'm shocked at how impossibly great the pictures you provided looked!!!!!!!!!

It is not the wax that makes the paint liquid looking as is the preperation to get it 98.%there. I do not like to use waxes with lots of petro chemicals that can dry out the paint. A good quality pure none cleaning carnauba paste wax will add that last 2% snap to the color of a black car.

Since I have been in this business black ,burgandy, British racing green and dark blues have always been a challenge to make look like a crystle clear pond of liquid water. I think the car care maufactors have also been trying to meet the enthusiast demands for this look and have come out with some very good products to choose from.

I will reframe from naming brands, but suggest the better ones are not on the counter of your laocal auto supply store.
