Beer Time

The state liquor store just got these in last week, so I should have a nice stock at home. This is one of my favorite brew's, Fullers ESB, nice sweet/bitter malts, nice touch of caramel, very tasty, ESBs are one of the first brew's I got into back in 96.

That's a really good selection, I love them as well. I'm trying to decide what to pick up next, haven't had an IPA in a while, and it's always a good choice :)

I had a couple of Victory Hop Devil's last night. That's a tasty IPA.

I've already starting collecting some good bombers for Thanksgiving Dinner (having a bunch of friends over). I picked up a Stone Ruination IPA and a Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti Stout at the store the other day. I'll pick up more over the next couple of weeks, any suggestions for other good brews to pick up in a 22 oz'er?

Dreadnaught, Stone 10th Annv., Stone Vertical Epic 06-06-06, Avery Mahajarha, Victory V-12, Bear Republic Racer 5, Stone Old Guardian, Rogue Shakespearen Stout, Rogue Brutel Bitter, Stone Arrogant ******* or Double *******, Moylan's Imperial Stout, Moylan's IPA, AleSmith but those are mostly 750ml, AleSmith Speedway Stout, or Horny Devil.

They also got some Gulden Draak. For IPAs try to get some Dreadnaught, Stone IPA, Stone Ruination, Bell's Two Hearted, Founders Centinnel IPA, Anderson Valley Hop Ottin', Dogfish Head 90 min, Great Divide Hercules or Titan, Rogue I2PA, Dogfish Head Burton Baton, Goose Island Imperial, Speakeasy Double Daddy, AleSmith Yule Smith.

Thanks! I've only had a couple of those before (just the Rogue stuff and the Arrogant *******), so I've got lots of good stuff to keep an eye out for.

jasonmac - Try the Dogfish 60 min IPA also. Cheaper and more hoppy than the 90 min. For me the 90 min has too much of a malt backbone....

jaobrien6 - John gave you a great list...I would only add the Stone Smoked Porter to the list. Sounds like you are going to have a hell of a Thanksgiving party! Fryed turkey and IPA....mmmmm can't wait.

Yeah, I wish a store with that selection would be a bit closer, my local shop just got Rogue a while back. I wonder if Dogfish Head has a distribution list/where to buy on their site...

I would think that someone nearby would carry it. Dogfish is pretty easy for me to find out here in OR... I'd be surprised if you couldn't find it in MA. Who knows, though.

You can always try on-line.

Today a awesome brew from ID, a Grand Teton Black Cauldron Imperial Stout. I have been sitting on this one since about April 06. Pours a black color, not much carbonation at all, tiny creamy tan head, some minor lacing around the edges. Scents of hops, sweet roasted malts, slight spices, and caramel. The taste is of sweet roasted/smoked malts, slightly spicy, with a nice caramel taste. Medium body, well rounded. Very drinkable, an absolutely delicious beer, highly recommended.

This will go excellent with a grilled steak and Polish Kielbasa (homemade).

i got to take off a couple of days this past week for some camping with my dad in west virginia. the first night i was there alone. after roasting a couple of ball park franks over the fire, i opened up the $10 bottle of dogfish head 120 min IPA. what an incredible brew !! by far the best single brew that i've ever had. you were right, though john ...... it snuck up kinda slowly, but i was glad that i didn't have to drive anywhere afterwards. followed it up with a couple of sierra nevada pale ales. it was just a good weekend.

a single sierra nevada ale this evening.

Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale.

Love some Blue Moon! Have not tried the Pumpkin Ale, but the Belgian Wheat is some of the best! I love that stuff on draft.

Got some Winterfest over the weekend (first time trying it).
