hey,

just needed to ask anyone who detailed the (black) audi R8 (i think its a metallic black), hows soft is the audi black paint? being a metallic black paint is it a tad eaiser to maintain then a deep black paint?

thanks

Just the other day I finished another one up. Phantom Black is the name, and it is pretty hard paint. The solid non metallics generally are a little softer, but anything Phantom black(assuming the damage is pretty severe) is relatively hard. As a reference 105 on wool finished down really close to trail free (though I like to think its because I'm a rotary stud :nerd1: )

What are you using / what is your plan, perhaps we can make some recommendations.

yeah because im planning to get a r8 in the phantom black, but just wanted to know if the black paint was easy to get swirled up

It's easier to maintain Phantom, IMO, than solid colors. Get it!

Not only this, but in the event the person accidentally marrs it ever so slightly, chances are the flake is going to make it really hard to see. This color is like a bi-color in different light. Charcoal mega flakeness in the sun, black as night in non direct light. Awesome stuff.

I have worked on several recently, and from my personal experience the paint is extremely soft and easy to scratch, but the paint acts a bit hard when it comes to correcting. Just running your fingertips across the paint and you will see the scratches that are induced...........

Here is a photo of the Twin Turbo R8 we recenty did for a EuroTuner mag......awesome vehicle to work on...
