Armor All - Detailers Advantage Tire Foam?

I've never seen it before. I'm an avid fan of the OTC foam. I would LOVE to try this out.

Someone please chime in on this.

Ehh, it contains PDs and lots of silicone, something I like to avoid in a tire dressing. Turns tires brown. I personally will not let anything other than water based dressings touch my tires.

What water-based OTC tire dressings are available? As far as I'm concerned, there are no water-based OTC products available. Will this product really turn my tires brown?

Any dressing with PDs will turn your tires brown. Mother's FX Tire Shine and there is one by Duragloss, I forget the name, are both water based.

you guys dont like the blue tire dressing ?? that comes in gal or 5gal size ? its a lot better then armall. i buy 5 gal from dannys detail supply onlin and it last me for like ever .and its a lot cheaper then buying those cans.and works and shines a lot longer

I use Armor All tire foam everyday and on 5+ vehicles per day in my business. Some for over 6 months now. It has never turned a single tire brown. I believe this comes from improper cleaning then reapplying the product over a dirty tire. I can see how this would turn a brownish color overtime. I lover AAs products for tire care. The foam/gel combo is a proven winner in my book.

That was my 666th post. Had to do another really quick.

Hope you all don't mind!

:chuckle: :angry

If I clean my tires real well, and then apply the AA dressing, will they still brown? I want to know if I should return it.

Clean rubber? Hi-Temp tire cleaner 2 or 3 times. I am a clean tire FREAK. I will deep clean my tires at least once a month. Every product I have tried that contains PDs turn my(and clients) tires brown. Use it on the wheel wells. Come on guys. Why use junk when there is MUCH better stuff out there. Optimum Tire Shine is 20 bucks for one gallon. That will last years for many people, is water based and a FAR superior product, IMO.

I used to swear by the Detailer's Advantage foam, I think I even started a thread about it. You should still be able to get it at Target. I have kind of shied away from it for some of the same reasons Bigpoppa mentions, I still have plenty around for a quick shine or a cold winter day when I don't want to spend too long. I found it to kind of build up gunky residue on the tire after a while, which maybe is a small price to pay for the convenience.

OTC is junk?

I don't think so. Some internet products are junk. You don't have to spend a fortune to get good results.

Did I ever say OTC was junk? No. What I said was that, in my opinion(and experience), the AA Detailer's Advantage foam was an inferior product to the others that I have used. Your results may vary.

Well I'm another one that uses the regular Tire Foam from AA b/c it leaves a good base for gels and has excellent cleaning properties, even after really cleaning the tires the Foam will still bring grime out in the tires. Never had any of my tires turn brown and we have 5+ vehicles. I think the new AA Extreme Gel might have some water base now too? I know it's nowhere near the silicone content old stuff used to be.

I don't really use waterbased sprays (have PB Bold and Bright) b/c doesn't last as long and if it rains it washes away. I don't want to reapply and two days later it rains and washes away again. Whereas my AA Foam/Gel combo will last at least two weeks even with rain and the tires still have a nice, black look.

Surfer could you tell me approximately how many vehicles you can do with a can of AA Foam and a bottle of their gel?

Thank you very much!

Truthfully since I don't use it every time, not sure, I only do our vehicles I don't detail for a living. But ask Justin above, I think he goes through a lot of cans monthly but he doesn't just use them for tires, I think trim and other stuff as well. He should be able to give you a better idea. But the AA Extreme Gel, I'd imagine at least 25 vehicles if not more. Again not sure, but a little goes a long way.

The bottle of my AA foam says 36 tires.
