We get this once in a while but it still knocks me on my *** when we get someone calling for a price for......................are you ready?

A hand car wash.

We charge $15.00 for a car to hand wash and dry the exterior, clean the tires, wheels and wheelwells, dress the tires and buff the exterior of the windows. We don't make a dime on these and basically just offer it as a service to familiarize people with the shop and for our regulars.

The thing that was funny was the lady ended the phone call with - "okay - I may call you back as I am c alling around for some prices".

I am speechless. I am without speech..............

WOW thats funny

I had a person call me X mas eve and asked if I would be willing to detail a car for his wife care Xmas morning. He wanted to slide open the blinds and have me wearing a Santa Suit complete with beard and all washing/waxing her car! He said I would be willing to pay you and extra $25.00 since it was Xmas morning.

WTH? :nixweiss

My local *tunnel* car wash charges $35 for a hand wash, and they are washing cars (by hand) ALL DAY LONG. I say capitalize on it, if they want it.

$15 for a quality hand wash? I'm on my way!

I've been charging $25-35 for a hand wash. I have several customers who have me wash their cars weekly. I know many of y'all just do details but the washes are guaranteed income week in, week out. Besides, those customers are the best about keeping their cars waxed and detailed very regularly.

Yes, suprisingly enough, there are still cheap people in this world.

Thank you for that insight!

I've unemployed for months and been doing odd jobs with my van for some cash. One woman wanted me to move her to Seattle. That was great, exactly the kind of job I like. I lowballed her at $900 for the job, and she was flabergasted.

I caught her the next week, offering $250 to anyone who would do it. She had some funny replies, especially from a guy who told her the gas alone would be more that that.

I wonder if she ever got there...
