Air Compressor

I am in the market for a new air compressor as my little 2.3 SCFM @ 90PSI just isn't cutting it anymore. I do part time work on friends vehicles (suspension, engine, etc) and would like something less than $500.

Here are a couple ideas as to what I have been looking at -

Powermate 60 Gal. Stationary Electric Air Compressor-PLA3706056 - The Home Depot

Husky 60 Gal. Stationary Electric Air Compressor-C602H - The Home Depot

Husky 60 gal. Electric Air Compressor-VT6314 - The Home Depot

I require 10+ SCFM @ 90PSI for some of the tools I use to operate at maximum performance. I am NOT limited to Home Depot, they just happened to have the easiest website to navigate based on SCFM requirements.

Any suggestions?

Don't know if this helps but I have had a 5hp 60 gallon Craftsman for 20 years and zero problems. At the time I think I paid about $900.00 for it. I know prices have come down as "Made In China" does that.

Shakin', I actually made not one but two posts trying to give some type of opinion on the compressors you have listed. I spent some time reading about all 3. Both times I found myself showing you something I perceived as a better choice than what you have listed. You know, bigger and better. I tried to tone the second post down knowing what I had done the first time and found myself doing the same thing all over again. I thought I was better than that, come to find out, I'm not. ;)

I actually took the posts down as I don't think that's what you're thread is about. Truthfully this happens all the time on forums. You ask a specific question and you get answers that never take into consideration what you are actually looking at. It comes down to finding something that meets your needs, at a price you can afford and close enough for you to pick up or order through the mail without going broke on shipping. Take a look at what you consider to be the extremes of what you will need. Look at the requirements of those tools (get rid of the thought that I won't need that very often), factor in the price, power requirements and the warranty and you'll be where you need to be. I'll be interested to see what you end up with.

I appreciate you not derailing the thread, LOL. I have thought and searched for over a month to come up with what was listed. I have gone through all of my tools and don't ever foresee needing anything larger than I currently use. I looked in to industrial/commercial grade systems, but honestly don't use it enough to warrant the cost & size upgrade. I know I can pay off the unit within 2 or 3 jobs, so my return on investment isn't an issue.
