Today at Kragen's I saw 9 sq.ft. WW yellow drying towels by Viking for $9..9. Anybody has any experience with them, especially will they be leaving swirls (weave seemed unusual to me, but I don't have that much experience with WW)?

I haven't used those. I have a Cobra Ultimate Guzzler and it's great. It's a waffle weave drying towel. Well worth the price.

buy the gold viking x-large microfiber drying towel instead. go to your local k-mart and get it for a very reasonable $8.99!

The Viking towels I have been buying at KMart seem identical to the Sonus MF towels I have, just different colors. Unfortunately, KMart does not stock the Viking WW drying towel. It sounds bigger than a Megs Water Magnet WW for the same price. That would probably be your only other choice for a OTC WW towel. I like all the other Viking towels so I imagine the WW would be the same . They are well made, have satin edging, come in nice dimensions, priced right and I can pick them up at KMart which had them on sale for 20% off this past weekend.

Sounds like a great deal!

But, in all honesty, thats too much towel for me. I have enough issues with one thats only 864 sq in., vs one thats nearly 1300 sq in. That for me would be too much towel too handle, a little cumbersome if I may say so.....

I am not familiar with those so what would be their advantage that would make me want them instead, please?

Depends on whether it will be causing swirls ;)

Yes, I agree, but I looked at them having something else in mind. I am looking for very big towels / chamois / whatever to quickly spread few of them over surface of car, tap them down and remove. That should take majority of water off quick. Then I will follow up with smaller towel on whatever is left. I feel I will be quicker.

I didn't pick up the Viking WW towel from Kragen's because the material is different compared to any of the higher end WW towels. It's the same material (probably the same exact towel from the same manufacturer) as the Zwipes and AutoZone branded WW towels.

Do you feel material is rough, that it will cause swirls?

Honestly I have no idea if it would create swirls or not. I didn't buy it because I figured if none of the other companies on here known for their WW towels don't sell anything like it, maybe they're not selling it for a reason? I know, it's a stupid way to think because for all I know, it could be the best WW towel there is. I guess one day I might have to just buy it and try it.

For me I just didn't like the feel of it. Even though it says it's a microfiber towel, it doesn't feel like mf to me. And it feels just a bit rough compared to some of the other WW towels. Maybe do a search for Zwipes and see if anyone has had experience with that towel? The Viking, Zwipes, and AutoZone waffle weave towel all look and feel the same.

That's exactly why I created this thread and asked does anyone have experience would it swirl, it was because when I felt it up under fingertips it was feeling bit rough(er) to me than others I have.

i have and use three viking mf products, the gold x-large microfiber drying towel, the green quick detaling towel, and the old 16x24 blue mf drying towel that has been discontinued. all three of these are of the highest quality and are just as nice as any boutique brand. however, i have felt the ww drying towel and it's a bit rough for my liking...

Viking also has a foam cored drying towel...works very good....it feels like a suede material type MF with a foam core....good towel for blot drying a car..really absorbs water....and only 6.99 at AZ and WM

if you're talking about the orange one, i've noticed they are on clearance at wal-mart for $3.50, iirc...

Few foam cored towels that are tried I ended up not liking. They suck up water fast when dry but once not dry you can not decently wring them out.
