I went to one of the bodyshop supply places in town here, that has the full line of all of the Meguiar's products.

I saw 2 of the 3 things I needed... the Aggressive and Mild clay bars.

I asked the guy at the counter how much they were.

$48.50. EACH.

I literally started laughing. I said to the guy, "you realize that MSRP is only like $32? Most places online have it for under $25. Have a nice day."

Seriously... that's extortion.

My local CarQuest carries both the blue and the red Clay Magic clay...their price? $40 per 200 gram bar. Even the guy I know that works there thinks it's crazy.

Man, I know what you mean. I was out at a job and needed sandpaper. Luckily, there was a PBE store about 4 blocks away, but the guy wanted $40 sumthing dollars for Unigrit. Online the same pack was $22. I was forced to buy it anyway...

Jake: Is WashWay's purple clay the most aggressive they carry?

I just keep buying the megs clay bar box set for 14.99 at Walmart whenever I need clay. You get the QD spray, and a nice buffing MF towel with it, and you can't ever have too many of those.

I think I once saw a big shipment of Riccardo, maybe 100 bars or so I can't remember but I calculated it out and it was like $2.20 per bar. American. I was gonna be all over until I saw he didn't ship to the US :(

I'm getting to where I won't buy products from my local supply places. (carquest, napa) I went by a few places the other day, and some of their products are so old they are deteriorating badly. I mean when was the last time you saw Meguiars Medallion on the shelves?? lol

I think Advance Auto has the Clay Magic kits for 10 bucks, the blue clay which works on most things. Megs Clay kit - bought one - thought it sucked, clay was weaker than my kids play-doh.

Too long ago. I'm rationing the 1/3 of a bottle I have remaining.

How long it this stuff good for?

It's been sitting on the shelves for who knows how many years. Is it worth me buying? I'm not sure if it was ever made in a paste wax, but this stuff I'm talking about is a liquid.

It's the Medallion Paint Cleaner that I was referring to. I think it will last a long time. I like it because the solvent content gives it extra cleaning power and makes it less sensitive to humidity.

I don't know about the Medallion Paint Protection. It may not last that long as sealants do seem to oxidize or polymerize over time.

I saw a gallon jug of Armor All at NAPA once, they had a price tag on it that said $38. Wal-Mart has half gallons for $12.47.

sometimes some of these auto chain stores have products that been collecting dust and who knows how long it's been sitting on the shelves...

I couldn't believe how old some of the stuff at Carquest was.

If I think about it next time I'll take some pictures. I just like going in there to see products I've never seen before. lol At Napa, one or two of the Zymol cleaner wax aka Turtle wax, have been sitting so long it's no longer blue in color, and the water or whatever's in it, is floating on top.

The workers at the stores have no clue about their products, because they never sell any. As was told to me by the store MGR.

So you order 13 or more bars of clay at one time?

Also, they have four different colors of clay, but I couldn't find any description as to the aggressiveness of each. Do you have any insight on this?

Not to speak for Jake, but yes I'm sure he orders 13 or more at a time, he is a pro, after all.

If you go to the individual descriptions you'll see that the gray and dark blue are described as fine clays while the light blue and purple are described as medium grade.

Thanks for the info. I'm still curious as to the difference between the grey vs. dark blue and the light blue vs. purple. Any thoughts?
