2008 toyota corolla

now with the re-designed civic(s), it looks as toyota finally gave the corolla a make-over. i didn't like the design of the past corolla's and was wondering what everyone thinks of this? :up or :down

"Expect Toyota to get edgier with its next-generation Corolla, hitting showrooms in 2007. The 2008 should bridge the generation gap between the Scion and Toyota lines and will have more interior volume than the current model. While the Scion roster consists of hatchbacks, the Corolla will continue here as a three-box sedan, with hatchback versions for overseas markets, only. A hybrid-powered version may follow."

:down

Old one was boooring, but this one is downright wierd. I guess they really want to compete with the Civic. :p

In the new Motor Trend(August 06), they have an actual picture of a preproduction 08 Corolla, and, like all Toyotas, it's much more conservative in design than the concept drawing...

It's not on their website yet, so I don't have a pic, but it will look very much like a larger Yaris.

I guess they keep their 'edgy' designs at Scion:)

I agree, the current Corolla is very dated and I would choose a Civic any day!

Oops, almost forgot..

:down for me too

The bottom half of that drawing looks very similar to a Dodge Caliber to me :chuckle:

agreed ^. i've been leaning towards a toyota for my next car purchase, but as with the new corolla, i don't think i'll be considering it. but you never know, i guess we'll wait and see...

The green one above doesn't look toooo bad.

The old Corolla is boooring but so was the older Civic.

The pic in the M&T August issue is just awwwwful.

I guess I'll stick with my 06 Civic.

And such a fine decision, if I might say so myself!

My daily driver is an 06 Civic, Royal Blue Pearl, and I absolutely love it. My former daily driver, and now my daughter's car, is an 05 Civic, Magnesium Metallic, EX Special Edition. I agree the older one can be boring, but I model and color of my 05 is pretty fun. Great car for a 20 year old college Junior.

I've never been a fan of the Toyota. Don't really know why, maybe it's more that I have always been a big, gigantic Honda fan. I do like the new Camary; it's a sharp looking mobile.

My wife is wanting to get rid of her Jeep Liberty since the MPG sucks (less than 10 in the city). She's been considering the CRV and Element, but we're waiting on to see the 07 CRV. Oh, well...

my pops just bought an 07' camry and i'd have to say it's pretty nice in exterior design compared to the accord.

agreed. i have an 03' civic coupe and was thinking of getting a toyota when my car is payed off in a year or two, but nothing peaks my interest other than the scion tc at the moment as far as toyota goes...

this looks pretty tempting, though i would like to get a four door next...

in the drawing, almost looks like it has a small bed like a pick up :down

I am NOT a fan of Toyota personally and the new Civic is pretty cool. I know Toyota is spending alot of money trying to make themselves cool but they have a long way to go if they want to one up the new Civic...those pics are nasty....hell the Koreans are building better looking offerings.

It seems like everyone except the Americans are trying agressively to come out with attractive (sporty and/or conservative) smaller cars. And doing a pretty darn good job, too. Guess the only consolation is that many of these automobile manufacturers are building plants here in the states and employing Americans.

My online Automotive News sent me this short E-Mail. Methinks the new redesigned 2006 Civic got the better of the new redesigned 2007 Corolla.

Toyota has delayed the redesigned Corolla for U.S. showrooms a year, until spring 2008. The delay is surprising because Toyota adheres to a disciplined redesign schedule. The current Corolla will be on the market six years, not the typical five.
