We detailed a dark blue 2001 BMW M5 this Thursday. Our procedure was:

Exterior:

Dawn Wash/Dry

Clay with Clay Magic

Klasse AIO 1X --- SG 2X (including wheels)

Top with Souveran

Trim dressed with Wurth's Rubber Care

Tires cleaned with EFHI & dressed with TW 2001 Tire Gel

Windows cleaned with Stoner's

Interior:

Leather (of which there is tons in a Bimmer!) cleaned with Lexol Leather Cleaner & protected with Leatherex

Vinyl (not much of it in there!) done with Vinylex

Vacuumed interior, mats, trunk

Wood trims cleaned & sealed with Klasse AIO 2X & SG 2X

Door rubbers cleaned with EFHI & protected with Vinylex

Our main problem was the dreaded SG hazing on the hood after the 2nd application of SG. Arrgghh!! We allowed it to "sit" for a while, then went over it with the PC w/MF bonnet. After quite a bit of work, we were able to remove the hazing.

Results of the detail follow in the next few posts........

Ahhh! Nice & clean!

edit: A detailing hint -- on those "furry" door jamb trims, a MF works well to get off the dust and lint!!

Nice!

I Really Like That Color Combo On A M5: The LeMans Blue With The Carmel All Leather Luxury Interior!

Good Job!

Hi Volvo4Me,

Wow! You have done a very sweet job on that M5. I like the reflections. How long did it take you to do the complete detail?

With Aloha,

Wow! The pictures looked so good that it convinced me to "build an M5" on the BMW website and also drop a quick call to the local dealer. I love the M5's beautiful satin black chrome wheels and full leather interior... yum.

You did an excellent job on both the detailing and pictures. A dusty M5 interior isn't always fun, especially with all that stitching!

We started at 9:00 a.m., and would have finished about 4:30, had it not been for the hazing. We ended up finishing a little before 6 p.m. The wheels weren't as hard to detail as you would think. We used MFs to wash them, so it was easy to get all around the spokes and even to the inside of the wheel (at least for me since my hands are pretty small)

We only took about a 20 minute break for lunch (we take our mini-microwave with us and nuke a couple of healthy choice frozen dinners ~ Quick, easy & cheap!) so were working practically non-stop.

I've never been a big Bimmer fan, but I am now! I adore that M5!!! I only got to "drive" it in to the garage, but, whoa!!! you can feel the power it has!!

I've never seen that much leather in a car ~ thank goodness for the shop-vac & MFs to help get all the dust out!!

Thanks for the compliments, guys! I love this job!! :D

gorgeous. i just did a quick detail on my m3 last weekend. for the wheels, i highly recommend EO a to z wheel cleaner. takes that bmw brake dust striaght off in a couple minutes with a strong hose rinse. then you only have to go over it with a rag to get some of the stubborn spots. but i was amazed. of course, being a bmw, the wheels were instantly dirty again after my drive back to san fran. you'd think the brake pads were made specifically to create dust on the wheels. sheesh.
