the wax or sealant you use on the rest of you car will work fine

or it's a good way to use up wax/ sealant that you don't use on you car any more

sorry have not used those products

The article say use a carnuaba wax. I think that's wrong, you should use a synthetic like Meguiars NXT for your wheels. I use NXT paste and it works great on my chrome wheels. If I had more post I would put up a picture.

why?

have you tried it?

what wax did you use?

a nuba will work as good on your wheels as you paint

there are a lot of people here that use a nuba on wheels

I've found that durability is not a huge issue on wheels - no matter what I use, it only lasts so long (harsh environment). I really like Aquawax - because I can use it in a matter of seconds on wheels that are still wet from washing.

With the amount of heat the tires and wheels generate wouldn't a sealant last longer than a carnauba? Just thinking it is the same theory on your paint where the high temperature in the sun will degrade a carnauba sooner than a sealant? Not debating look here, just durability in a more challenging environment.

no, you paint will get hotter setting in the sun then

you wheels will ever get(unless you are autocrossing)

as you drive the wheels will get a lot of air and get cooled off

also the wax is the hot sun is also just a theory if you ask me

I have a black car thet sits outside down the shore most of the summer

and have no problems with a nuba lasting several months

I'd personally rather have less brake squeal and more brake dust, than vice versa.

WOW this thread is full of some bad info!:o

try Hawk brand performance pads

less dust, more braking power, and NO SQUEAL

Only on here could an opinion turn into bad information. :rofl

That's my thinking as well. In city driving with stops and starts and no real air getting to the wheels it seem possible for the wheels to heat up. I read that most nuba waxes break down around 180 but if the wheels don't get that hot then I stand corrected.

2 products to help minimizing Brake Dust.... that would be soap and water.

I have an 05 TL with the brembo brakes, and they instantly get brake dust only in a matter of a few miles driven. I was going to buy a pair of hawk brake pads because I've read good things about that product, but instead I just bought the OEM pads. My brakes do not make noise, but the only problem is the brake dust. IMO, I don't believe in those brake pad covers, and I heard you're supposed to let it breathe.

My 2 products to keep them clean is soap and water, and a quick application of Z-CS, or OS. Looks good as new.... until you drive down the street :(

it was not a personal attack please don't take it that way

but brake squeal is usually from a buildup of brake dust

or brakes that are not set up correctly not because of low dust pads

Yes that's true about the buildup. Same thing happened to my TL when it was new. All I did was brake hard when no one is around and all the buildup and noise seem to go away. Today, I have no noise, but just too much brake dust!

but isnt carnouba wax'es life shortened by heat? if it is, then the wax would come off farily quickly because wheels get hotter then paint.

Have you ever notised once you get finished with a long car ride your wheels are hot as hell? Well they are.

I got a 2nd degree burn from changing tires around on my dads racecar. BOY did that hurt.
