'05 Maserati GranSport detail

1 Clean WS6

Detailing Rottweiler
Hello all!!

This piece of art on wheels belongs to a monthly regular of mine whose cars I have been detailing once a month for three years now. This is his second Maserati and by default the second Maserati I have had the pleasure of detailing!! The paint on this car and his previous '02 Cambiocorsa have been the best factory paint I've seen. When I say these cars have 0 orange peel I mean it...it's truly unbelievable and rivals some custom show car paint I have seen.

This particular car is an '05 GranSport. One of only approximately 125 units brought into the United States. The GranSport takes the standard Cambiocorsa coupe to a new level by deleting its luxury appointments in favor of a more "race" oriented approach. Particulars about the car can be found here.... http://www.maserati.com

Just like his '02 before this, the '05 is his daily driver. The nature of his job causes him to travel abroad quite a lot but when he is in town this is his only means of transportation. To top it all off he is one of the nicest and most down to earth folks I have ever met. He has taken me for rides (real rides too...WOT shifts) in this car, bought me coffee and even offers to let me move it (to which I always refuse)!! Below are pics and a description of the detail.

Enjoy (I always do!!),
Mike

Wash with Meg's Gold Class shampoo

Polish with Four Star UPC using a Meg's 8006 pad and my PC set at 5.

Seal with Four Star UPP by hand with a foam pad. I let the UPP set on the paint for approximately 30 minutes before removal.

This has been my process/product combo for this car once a month since March. Each month the UPP is still slick to the touch and sheets water after the initial rinse.

Hey Mike, car looks great! Would love to own one and I think I would decline the offer to move the vehicle myself... haha. Alot of money in that machine. Did the car have any flake in it? The reason I ask is because I used the UPC + UPP combo on mine and I thought the UPC muted the flake. Can't go wrong with UPP though, that is some slick stuff!

looks great! One question, why do you use UPC and UPP every month? Doesnt the UPC just tale off the UPP from the last month, why not just put more coats of upp on?

Andrew

Thanks guys!!

Todd I talked with the owner after the detail today and provided he does not have to travel he will be at the United Way show next month so you'll get to see this car in person (along with his neighbor's DeTomaso Pantera).

bsdsys_x86 it's actually a non-metallic color called Grigio Touring (Touring Grey). The lack of metallic makes it one of the deepest shades of silver/grey I have ever seen.

Andrew the car is a daily driver and I am the only one who works on it. UPP alone would not remove the 4-5 weeks worth of driving debris accumulated on the paint between details...that is why I use the UPC. It's a mild enough polish/cleanser to use on a regular basis and gives the UPP a great base.

Nice work Mike. :bow Liquid silver....:)

Reminds me of the classic Joe Walsh tune Life's Been Good:

"My Maserati does one eighty-five. I lost my license...now I don't drive."

Beautiful car... and detail.:bigups Always love the pics of your regular customers. Nice group of clients to have!!

SWEEEEET!!!! :headbang The paint on those Z's and G's seems very easy to work with IMHO.

The showers were rough today...a birthday present for me from Mother Nature I guess. Hopefully the weather this week will be nicer.

We should try to have an informal get together with yourself, Todd and a few other local guys one of these days for some brewha's and some light detailing. I'd be more than willing to use my house for the venue.

That would be great Mike. Offer up some days to get together....I can bring some beer and munchies and chemicals...
