This week one of my favorite shampoos was replaced from the Detailer's Pro Series line. DP Auto Bath Shampoo was replaced by DP Power Wash.
Whenever I review two competing products, I like to use them side by side. This way I can clearly make notes of any differences between the two products. I only have two buckets with Grit Guards at home so I decided to try one product on the front clip of my Civic, then rinse out both buckets before trying the second product.
This review was done immediately after the Wold Cup, so around 5pm EST. It was very cloudy so I was out of direct sunlight. Average humidity for the day was 74%.
I started with DP Auto Bath Shampoo. I added 2 ounces to 3 gallons of water.
I'm pretty familiar with this shampoo, so I knew what to expect. The suds were great and rinsed off very easily.
I ran my hand across the paint to make note of the lubrication. This would end up being one of the biggest differences between these two shampoos.
Here are a couple shots of the paint after rinsing off the DP Auto Bath Shampoo.
Next up would be the contender, DP Power Wash.
I rinsed out both buckets before reviewing DP Power Wash.
I used the same dilution ratio for DP Power Wash, 2 ounces to 3 gallons of water.
Immediately I noticed the suds created by DP Power Wash seemed "stiffer". It was pretty clear that it foamed up much more which I expected, since it was designed to be used in Foam Guns and Foam Cannons.
DP Power Wash easily wins in the foam department.
I ran my hand across the paint to review the lubricity of DP Power Wash and I was impressed. My hand clearly glided across the paint much easier compared to DP Auto Bath.
Unlike DP Auto Bath, DP Power Wash has carnauba wax. This was evident in the beading after rinsing off the car.
The Winner: Detailer's Pro Series Power Wash
I was really impressed with this shampoo. It beat out DP Auto Bath in every single category. Unlike other "wash and wax" shampoos I've reviewed, this one was NOT difficult to rinse off. For quick maintenance washes which are the majority of my washes, this looks to be my new "go-to" shampoo.
