Matte paint care

Dr.Beasleys matte paint kit. Excellent products and well worth it, I even keep a spare kit in the down stairs for in case of a Matte client!

It's just clear coat with a flattening agent added. Just use car soaps that don't contain any kind of waxes or ingredients meant to add gloss to the paint, or you can buy specialty soaps if you like...marketing guys were all over that. The users manual will list a lot of the precautions but the big one is to avoid excess rubbing/scrubbing and to never polish the paint. You can use coatings on them but on matte it's probably best done by a pro since you can't polish it off if you mess up the application. Regular washing will be key and be sure to remove tar, sap, and bird bombs ASAP.

New GF has Challenger with gray/black matte paint. What are best practices to enhance this type of paint?
TIA

I have used Poorboys Spray and Wipe with good success as a quick detailer (very cost effective and has no silicone, waxes etc) ON matte vinyl---but I don't know if it would be any different on that matte

Rasky makes a great point and I'd take his advice... got any pics of that Challenger? sounds pretty sweet

I'd wash with Chemical Guys Meticulous Matte Auto Wash then apply CQuartz. No more than 1 coat is all you need. CQuartz worked great for my matte black helmet.

I have CG Meticulous Matte Auto Wash when I placed an order through CG at one time. I actually ordered CG Wash and Clear and they sent me Meticulous Matte instead. When I called they said they were the same thing. Just an FYI for anyone that was wondering.

I also have the CG matte detailer and I don't feel like it does anything differently then PB S&W on matte.

The main thing is to use something that doesn't have gloss adders, but still has some type of protectant. That way it still stays matte and not glossy.

I wouldn't use a coating on a matte finish. It will add some gloss which you don't want. Use a soap with non-gloss agents and protect with Dr. Beasleys. Poorboy's S&W is a great QD for matte.

Do you have any photos of matte finishes pre and post coating application?

interested to see it with my own eyes.

So how *does* one correct matte/satin paint if it gets marred up to the point of looking bad? Somebody posted about this before but I forget and don't feel like doing the dreaded search.

Someone posted on my celeste thread I believe that they used a light polish on some matte pieces on a camaro (to remove spotting)..i didn't look it up to verify

Correcting swirls, i didnt think was posible on matte

I bet a hand polish using S3 gold XXL will work
I use it to get rid of scratches under the door handles

Have you actually coated a matte finish???

I've done several with a few different coatings and none of them have added any kind of gloss. It will however darken the look slightly, how much will depend on the coating used. The owners that have had them coated by me actually liked the look better too.

According to MB, repaint.

I wouldn't try it. The MB in my posts has a couple of shiny spots from the previous detailer being too aggressive with MF. (Hey, it got me my gig. ;) ) MB factory matte is pretty fragile.
