Smoke smell

Gotta turn the Tahoe in soon. WHat gets rid of smoke smell?

Ozone generator and bowls of white vinegar is what I've gotten on searches.

WHat about the stuff you blast in to the a/c vents? Does it help?

Hey Ron. The vent stuff works. You can also use a Lysol in the vents. Turn on the truck. Put the defrost on and spray the can into the intake. Usually on the passenger side under the dash. Let it run for about 15 minutes and use a good portion of the can too. Just whipe everything and don't forget the head liner. Vacuum first and use a foam cleaner on the liner. Steam cleaner works well to. Hope I am not telling you anything you don't allready know. Good luck. Oust spray works well also

Thanks, much appreciated.

Any other car you'd never know was smoked in. Here cuz of humidity, it's a different story

For smoke odor removal, I like to thoroughly clean the interior. That includes thoroughly vacuuming all carpet and fabric (I think most people forget to vac the rear deck on passenger cars, were ash and smoke residue can settle if the windows are open), then using a foam carpet cleaner on all carpet and fabric. Agitate then dry/shop-vac. Then scrub all interior panels with an interior cleaner or PB's Leather Stuff or APC before applying a protectant. The A/C cleaner products work great and I know the 1Z Einszett leaves a light lemon scent. If it's a heavily smoked in vehicle you can use Dakota Non-Smoke Cigarette Smoke Odor Eliminator or CarPro So2Pure after cleaning, but I usually use Febreze. Basically just scrub everything you can. Smoke gets everywhere.

I used to smoke cigarettes in high school and my parents never knew. :innocent:

Thanks Ray

First wipe all surfaces not harmed by water with a mild APC cleaner to get the sticky Nicotine junk off. Look at the MF towels and when they are not getting yellow brown any more your done. Remember that is what you are sucking into your lungs. I hope you wont smoke in the next car. Next go to, Bed Bath and Beyond Sell a product called Fresh Wave. It should be run through the vents, as described above, misted on the head liner, and all surfaces. Then close the car and let it sit over night. The next day-the Smoke smell is gone like magic!

Put a dog turd in glove box. That is the only thing nastier smelling then a cigarette. One will cancel out the other

+1 on Ray's advice for Einszett Klima Cleaner and I'll add replacing your Tahoe's cabin's air filter. Using that combo I took care of a moldy A/C odor on a family member's car.

If you are looking for something that does a good job, look into Meguiar's Air Refresher (New Car Scent). They get into the AC system. They work really well. 1 or 2 should get the job done.

This is the one I'm referring to

I had some good success with Car Pros "So Pure". It removed some nasty smoke odors from my Dodge Ram truck when I bought it.

Biocide Systems auto shocker treatment. Eliminated sever cigarette smoke odors from a used car I bought after doing a thorough interior cleaning. The odors were so bad that cleaning alone did not eliminate them. One treatment of Biocide Systems auto shocker eliminated the odors for good.

I used the Meguires bomb and it works good. Remeber the plastic breathes so on a hot day you may get some smell back. Try putting some Baking soda under the seats after the smell of the cleaning is gone. They have flow through so they will not spill. I have had good luck with them after you clean everything very well.

Old trick I've used in the past: If you can find a stack of old newspapers, put them on the floor in the back seat and leave the windows up for a few days. The papers will absorb the smoke smell and turn yellow.

Do you think the yellow is nicotine?
