Zaino , Big Thumbs Down !

Liquid glass looked better because it is a consumer product and as most consumer products, they are designed for the person with no experience and no machines.

Zaino is also designed for people with no experience and no machines. I've never had a problem with durability with Liquid Glass or the chalky hazy paint either.

Horrible looking stuff that Zaino, here it is on black, utterly disgusting, I'm gonna puke. You all know that sealants or waxes have like 10% or less to do with how a car "looks" yeah? I like Zaino because of how it leaves the surface and the durability, period. It also looks as good as anything I have in my arsenal on a well prepped surface. I'm not married to it, but I don't see how anybody could not like it. I would say the same about many products, but Zaino seams to be an easy target for some reason.:nixweiss

The reflective/plastic look is tacky to me, it goes along with super greasy tire shine IMO.

There's no need for Z-6 between coats. I thought that was over kill. IMO, 1 coat of Zaino looks as good as 5 coats.

I basically use

Z-AIO

2 x Z-5p with ZFX.

Why no Z6 needed?

I always use Z6 between layers and follow the final Z6 wipedown with Z8. Overkill? Maybe but you're on Autopia...

I'm a big Zaino fan but I'm not gonna preach since I'm still new to the detailing world.

It seems like the "look" people want to achieve is different... "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" or something like that.

Slightly off topic, if I wanted to save some time and NOT use Z2 or Z5, would using F*UPP (spray on, wipe off) be as effective?

True, Zaino is easy to do with no experience required, but if the paint needs polishing, Zaino will let you know very soon.

As for Liquid Glass, back in the day I have applied it to hundreds of cars and after a few coats are applied within months, you can definatly notice when it wears off. It will have a faded look when it gets old on the paint.

Last year I had a Vette come in the shop and it had this powdery residue embedded on the paint. The owner said he had about 10 coats of Liquid Glass on it and it was very obvious. I spent 6 hours just removing the spent residue that was embedded into the paint from the over application. It brought back old memories of Liquid Glass.

I do not miss those days.:hairpull

the paint is only a year old and my wife just had our 2nd baby so it really hasn't

been ridden that much it sits in a heated garage w/a cover on it for the past year.

Great looking bike!! Congrats on the new baby!

I just realized you are from Boston and local, so if you need a little help let me know. I could take a look at it in person and give you great advice.

so you can tell a Zainoed car just by looking at it? Hmm...

Yes I would be very interested to know if you can actually tell the difference... I SERIOUSLY doubt it.

People get so caught up on these things... I doubt if many or ANY person could tell you the exact LSP on a given car.

Fwiw. I like the looks of Wolfgang DGPS 3.0 better than Zaino, and most Carnauba's on Black Metallic. I've never compared them on any other colors though.

Yes we are all on Autopia, but from my results I did not see anything different. If you use Z-6 for the first time you'll notice the paint a little darker.

Z-8 wipe down will give you that look. :D

This is a pretty ignorant thing to say... just because products are easy to use, doesn't mean they are for people with no experience.

So true.

IMO Wolfgang 3.0 is a better product on any colour;

-It has more warmth then Zaino.

-Against non ZFX'd Zaino it will last longer, and do about 4 Months in mixed London weather.

- Easier application.

- easier removal.

-You can use an oil based glaze under Wolfgang sealant, this allows for you to mix up the ulimate finish you can get. IE: RMG for more metalic pop, YMW for extreme depth and wetness.

Just my thoughts. I have Zaino products, i use them, its nice to have lots of options and get them out every now and then. But unless something new comes out i wont go back to get more Z5 or Z2.

ZAIO is a cracking looking all in one IMO and worth the money!

So you think Zaino was designed only for people with experience? Now that is ignorant, then Zaino would loose out on a lot of customers and money, get real. In fact Zaino is directly tailored to the weekend warrior and people that are new at detailing as most pro's don't have a whole day to wait for one layer to cure.

Well, it seems to boil down to two options - try it again with a little more prep work or move along and sell your supply (which shouldn't be too tough).

Not everyone is going to like everything. Those who decide to post to to insight fighting are just silly.

Um no, I never said that Zaino is designed only for people with experience. Please read before you respond.

And I used the term PRODUCTS for a reason. I don't want to get into a Zaino argument... I was simply saying that a well made product that is easy to use doesn't mean its only for weekend warrriors or the inexperienced.

It just seems like you have a huge chip on your shoulder when ZAINO comes up. Sure, fanboys are annoying at times but so are people that condemn so adamantly.

Your posts in this thread as netiher helpful nor needed. If you have that much hate towards Zaino, why bother wasting your time to trash talk it? Everyone has their go-to products... and usually, there isn't a consensus on the best looking LSP.

Because I think it sucks and I wasted my money on it and want to prevent others from doing the same just as the OP found out.
