Wiping down interior

What do you guys use to wipe the dust off the dash and the rest of the interior? Currently I am using windex and a towel. When using 303 will windex take away from the effectivness of it? What do you guys use to wipe the interior down?

I can't wait for spring to arrive. I hate seeing my car covered with salt!

Thanks, Josh

MF with either the 1Z Cockpit Premium or Meguiar's Interior QD. If it's dirty (like my daily dog-hauler cleanups) I use a cotton or MF cloth and Griot's Interior Cleaner. I try to keep window cleaners off of vinyl and *especially* leather, which it can stain something awful.

....I'm also a user of 1Z CP and Meguiars Quik Interior Detailer. Actually, I found Meguiars QID so similar to my favorite (1Z CP) that I believe I will switch exclusively to QID. The fact that they are now selling the stuff in gallon sizes under their "Detailer" line also helped make up my mind.

...$22/gallon ($19 right now at Autogeek) is quite economical. 1Z is ~ $ .29/ounce or ~$37/gallon considering a 10L jug is ~$100. While I usually don't mind spending a little extra for products I prefer, the differences in case are not enough IMO/IME.

I will regularly use my Tornador with their cleaner product and Sonus Cockpit Detail Spray. I liked their Motorkote so much, I tried this and love it.

I use ONR in the QD ratio (8oz/gal I believe) and a mf towel. If it needs an actual cleaning, I'll use Meg's APC+ diluted 10:1 or so. I then protect with something like 303 AP.

1Z Cockpit Premium or Sonax Dashbard cleaner are the best cleaner/detailers that I know of. Beautiful clean matte finish withour streaks.

You really need nothing more than a damp lint free towel to remove dust and loose surface dirt. You can use it to freshen up plactic, leather and carpet. If you do this every time you wash your car, you'll greatly prolong needing to do a deeper clean later.

Unless you want that little, short-lived bit of scent that CP/IQD provide ;) Yeah, I'm a fanatic about my Audis smelling like Audis, GMs like GMs, etc. etc. but even I like how those two products smell (and the way it fades away nice and fast). OK, it's an indulgence, I'm worth it :chuckle:

@ Lustr: Do you find ONR in QD strength prevents marring to the interior wood trim? I found tons of threads on removing the marring on wood and the related dangers, but nothing on preventing the marring.

....while perhaps arguable, there is also the UV protection products like QID say they provide.

Thanks Accumulator. I think Superbee was a mad scientist in another life. I love following his experiments. I spent hours on his cr spotless recharge thread.

Just about every issue I've searched for on here was answered by you or Superbee. It's like the search button automatically defaults to your answers. Thank you!

I do things a little different. If there is a noticeable dust layer, I'll do a dry wipe with a dust cloth first. Then apply a diluted water based dressing.

In all honesty I don't deal with much wood trim at all, so can't give you a concrete answer in this case. I would assume though that ONR can't really protect the wood trim from any marring as it doesn't seal it at all or anything like that. What kind of marring are you talking about exactly? What kind of wood trim? From my experience, most of the wood trim is coated, and most of the coatings are similar to paint, so they can easily marr whether your have any protection on there or not.

LUSTR - I was talking about the marring created from dragging dust and dirt across the wood trim. I was hoping ONR's encapsulating capability would protect the wood trim when wiping it.

I was thinking about hitting the interior with some compressed air to blow the majority of the dust and dirt off the wood trim and then using ONR in QD strength or wipe the wood with a soaked MF with ONR at wash or QD strength.

The swirls on the wood in my last two BMW's drove me crazy.
