"Why would anybody care if tires shine?!?!"

I didn't make it clear in my first post... it wasn't the cashier. It was another customer behind me. She appeared as if she hadn't been "buffed" in many years...!

...all just another reason I really want a house deep in the woods, with really big fences!

actually....i prefer a nice clean black tire without dressing on my personal vehicles....it seems like the dressings pick up all the dust and debris around the tires and make them look worse than they are....so i just Blech-White em real good and hose them off then dry them and they 95% of the time come out good enough for me

Same here. I love the matte tire look. Z16 works well for the clean tire, no shine matte finish.

should have grabbed her box of Depends, and yelled back at her "why would anyone care if you pissed on yourself"

LOL that's the best laugh I got on this site in a while. Thank you for that.

I was at Canadian Tire here in Toronto walking down the car cleaning section seeing if they had anything cool that I wanted (probably not). And I hear a woman tell her husband this exact same thing. "why do you need to make your tires shiny? You go to the car wash and it should be fine!"

I laughed, her husband and I looked at each other and just went...."woman...."

wouldnt the cotten off the suits give off dust?

:chuckle:

Cotton?

Duh. They would be made out of the finest microfiber material and only washed with liquid detergent / vinegar rinse and dried with no fabric softener whatsoever.

:lol

(sidenote)

When my son was born, a friend's Mom was going to make him a baby outfit using some of my good microfibers so that if he accidentally touched the car, I wouldn't get upset. She was going to make it so that the arm holes were sewn shut prevent little finger prints, too.

:lol

Ya, me too! I went to the local BMW/Porsche dealer with a friend the other day, and was depressed by how badly hacked the NEW cars were. Detailing may be classified as a pre-cursor to OCD-like behavor! But it's a disorder I'm proud to have!

some people just don't get it and that's ok, i do what i gotta do with my car and how they keep there's is their beeswax.

tires tend to turn brown and attract a lot of dirt and grime, it just detracts from the overall look of a car IMO. It's your personal preference really, but I've never heard anyone complain about tire shine of any kind.
