What's an excellent final coat wax in conjunction with zaino, for dark & silver cars?

Okay, I know there is a butt load of waxes out there, but there is waaaaaay to much info to sort through. Sooooooo.... just bear with me here.

I am going to be doing a rather large CMA order pretty soon, so I am getting a shopping list together.

I already am using Zaino on my new WS6, and I have a used Jetta VR6 which needs an overhaul on the paint badly, plus its metallic midnight blue.

Now zaino to me doesn't seem to last very long in the elements, plus the wax attracts but loads of grime, and I get electrical shocks when buffing the wax off:eek:

Also, I can't tell if I am getting that much depth out of the wax.

- First thing is, should I use a topper wax on Zaino?

- If I do, can I only use the topper from there on, or can I use zaino on top??

- Or how do I maintain??

- I need something which will give the paint a nice wet look with great depth.

- Something which will not haze or color the paint for the dark colored car and silver, which most to all waxes do...

- And something which will provide maximum dust, dirt, grime, and water repellency I can find.

Is there such a thing??

Where can I find it?

How is it generally used?

Thanks for any input!:D

I am sure you will get numerous responses telling you that a topper is not necessary on Zaino....

Having said that, I think s100/P21s or Souveran look great on dark cars.

S100 can be picked up at any Harley dealer and is relatively inexpensive.

There are those that absolutely swear by Souveran, but the price is $50 and higher.

Both are ridiculously simple to apply and remove.

Speaking as the owner of a black Lexus who has been using Zaino on it for over two years, the best topper for Zaino is another coat or two of Zaino.

Im no Z user (as of now) but if Z longevity is an issue for your car, you may not be able to find any replacement that will last longer...

How long is Zaino lasting for you and long long do you expect it to last? I can use it all winter on daily drivers ungaraged in salt, rain, snow, ice and 2 or 3 coats seems to last 5 months with little maintenance. Washing with Z7 and using Z6 seem to help aid longevity, but Irarely have a chance to hand wash from Dec-Mar. Usually I use no-touch autoamtics or quarter wands. Zaino lasts longer than any other product I have used. Klasse may last longer, but it seems rare to find users of both.

As for using somthing with a different look, you can get S100 from CMA if you are placing an order anyway. I don't know if you'll ever get a deep look with silver, though. Silver cars are bright, not deep.

I agree with the road grime point. Zaino and S100 behave similarly with water not sticking and falling off the car. But as soon as the car is driven and the oil nad dirt fro mthe road gets on the car, the slickness means the wind carries the water across the body panels. Gonna have to wash it well and the no-touch washes don't get it off.

You are getting 5 months from Z in the winter????? I use it on my truck, daily driver. I'm lucky if it lasts one month! The salt and high pressure touchless washers eat it up.

Zaino lasts maybe 2-3 months in good conditions. My truck stopped beading after a month, although the surface still feels slick. I think the Z is stripped with salt and the high pressure water.

I'd say I'm not really that impressed with the durability of zaino. It does make the car look really nice, of course with a butt load of work, but it just does not last long. After say about a month of driving in the regular rain and dirt, and washing the car, the paint no longer feels slick but very grabby when you run a shammy or your hands accross. bird crap just eats through like nothing, the zaino qd is hard to wipe on and off...

dont forget I have a dark colored car now too.

Maybe I will try some of my friends wax. He has some marine/airplane industrial grade wax/glaze. He only waxed his cobra twice since August when he got it and he said his paint still feels slick and beads water off!! He drives the car daily in the snow, rain ,dirt etc.

If you find the Zaino hard to wipe on and wipe off, then you are doing something wrong.

Unlike wax, zaino takes almost no effort to remove, as it does not have to be "buffed," and does not leave the white residue in the cracks and crevices that take so long to remove with somebody's old toothbrush. Same for applications, which are quick and painless.

My guess is that you are trying to apply it over wax or that the finish was not properly cleaned at the beginning; perhaps you did not get the grease and wax removed from the car before your initial application of Zaino.

When done correctly, it takes far less effort than wax, lasts far longer and looks better.

Something is bad wrong with your finish, and it does not sound like it's the Zaino.

Actually he said Zaino QD was hard to remove, which is even harder to believe. Z6 is easy to remove!

Nope, everything done correctly. The wax is like any other wax when removing, my biggest complaint to removing wax is all the figgen static, I'm creating my own lightning:shocked

When I touch the car up with the qd say after a few weeks it is hard to apply and remove, not like when the car was freshly waxed.

Belive me it the wax, not the user, I'm just very picky when it comes to results and durability.

I got a hold of that strange industrial wax my friend used on his cobra, called collinite's no. 845. Friggen wierd stuff I tell ya. Will write a review on that soon.

I would try P21S/S100 wax. I should last at least 2 to 4 weeks for shure. It is so easy to apply and remove, it is almost as easy as QDing. Souveran is also a great wax, but it does cost quite a bit more.

Cheers,

I've heard Collinite is nearly bulletproof, but can be hard to remove.

The 845 he's referring to comes off pretty easy. The paste is what can be difficult ONLY if left on to completely dry. Do a panel at a time no problems at all.

I just waxed my new daily driver, a metallic navy blue 99 Jetta VR6. The waxy haze comes off easy, the problem is the smearing, or may I should say the film in the paint. For a light colored car or silver this would be perfect, for my Jetta, this was a little harder as it took some arm work to even out all the darker and lighter parts.

I should write a little thing about it tomorrow. Its raining over here by me. I also waxed a small area of the car with mothers paste pure carnuba wax. Lets see how they compare.
