Not much is posted about Adam's Polishes on TID because TID is a site sponsored by PAC.
From what I've gathered, most of the users of Adam's Polishes are military servicemen and veterans. One of Adam's Polishes most active supporter and Adam's Polishes Forum moderators is Junkman, who is a military personnel. According to him, most of his friends who detail cars are both in the military and Adam's Polishes users. The Adam of Adam's Polishes, from what I heard, was also in the military.
Not exactly...
Adam Pitale, the Adam of Adam's polishes was never in the military. He'll tell you himself that he was no where near disciplined enough to be in the military. From his life story that he has posted on his forum, he was quite the wild child. In business and his personal life, he would make some of you blush.
I can relate. I have partied in some of the wildest nooks and cranies this planet has to offer. My skeletons no longer fit in my closet so I just tell people not to trip over them. I do have an excuse, I am a Marine. Nobody parties harder that a U.S. Marine.
I don't exactly know where the statement of my friends being military and Adam's users came from because most of my friends wouldn't wax their cars if they were paid to. Also, none of my local friends are in the military or ever have been. I only have one friend with military experience who I'm still in touch with and he lives 2500 miles from me. It sounded good though!
A lot of Corvette guys use Adam's products, primarily because Adam's Polishes is a Sponsor on Corvette Forum.
Actually, the reason that a lot of Corvette owners use Adam's is because Adam lived for years right across the street from where "Corvettes at Carlisle" was held. Anyone who is a Corvette enthusiast knows that this is the holy mecca of Corvette gatherings. No Corvette event matches the amount of Corvettes at this gathering. This is where Adam's got his product line off the ground, insisting on customer service being the most important factor. To this day, that has not changed and some of the things I have seen him do to make a customer happy will astound you.
Very few Corvette owners even know about forums. I owned my Corvette for years before I found out about them. Let's face it, most Corvette owners are of the older persuasion and computers are not on the top of their list. It was the one on one contact that spread the name of Adam's throughout the Corvette community, not a message board.
One could make that comment about virtually any brand.
The pricing is similar to other similar brands (Griots, etc) that focus on customer service ...not lowest cost product around. This includes a nice web site, a discussion forum, educational videos, personal customer support, supports car related forums, attends shows, detailing clinics, etc.
You are so dead on with this post. Dead to rights.
I love Junkman 2000 how to videos on youtube.....That guys a hoot
Thanks man.
As a proud member of the USAF for 6 years, I would never use their products. If a company has to use underhanded methods (such as having threads removed when other products are used) I could care less who else uses them.
As a proud member of the military, you should have heard this statement before:
"It's not word unless it's passed and it's not scoop unless it bum."
This is so true about the few rumors that I have heard about Adam's. It's funny how a little research or actually talking to the man himself can shed a lot of light on things you may have heard or read. There is always two sides to a story and before you come to a conclusion, you should always arm yourself with both sides. If you were to call Adam up on his cell (he post his number all over the place), you can get his side straight from the horses mouth.
If you google around, from what I can piece together, Adam's was started before Chem Guys even existed but Adam's had used Warner Chemicals as their blender. Later, Chemical Guys was formed and started selling similar products using some of the names Adam's had used (Buttery Wax). Adam's seems to say they no longer work with Warner Chemical.
CG's web site says they do private label work and reverse engineering.
Again, you have nailed the truth. As a matter if fact, Adam's was out 5 years before CG's ever existed. However, someone started a rumor and folks who do not bother to do any investigation just repeated what they heard.
A lot of what I read from people about detailing companies and their products tells me exactly how little they know about detailing. When I hear them bad mouthing products or companies (especially the ones they have never tried), that says volumes about their detailing skills and knowledge.
I am a moderator on Adam's Forums and use Adam's products. I know Adam personally, have partied with him and held his beautiful baby girl. However, I am no Adam's zombie. If I don't like a Adam's product, Adam hears from me personally. Most of the time, it gets pulled. I understand the need for some products that I feel do more damage than help but I don't bite my tongue when it comes to giving my opinion. Some of the things I say and do makes Adam cringe but he knows that I am in this for the love of detailing, not the money. After all, I am NOT a detailer. It doesn't remotely pay the money I need to supplement my lifestyle. I think for a living. Less work, much more pay.
Here's my personal opinion of a bunch of professional detailing companies as I have posted on quite a few detailing forums.
You will NEVER hear me or see me in print, bad mouth any professional line of detailing products (especially those that I have never used and I have companies from all over the world send me their stuff to demo). I represent Adam's on quite a few forums but I have guys show up at my garage with all kinds of paint issues. Adam's is not the answer in
every situation. Sometimes I have to break out a more aggressive measure from wet sanding and 3M products or not as aggressive with the Meguiar's professional line (Mirror Glaze label). That also means that I'm possibly going to be working with a rotary and not a orbital polisher. It depends on what I'm trying to fix as I do all kinds of repairs to paint. I firmly believe that if
any quality product was used by someone who has extensive experience with that product, the quality of their shine will be outstanding. Furthermore, if all the manufacturers of quality products did their magic on a different car and lined them up side by side,
you would not be able to tell the difference from product A-Z.
The main difference between all of the quality products out there is
the way that they are applied. Ninety-nine percent of the people on detailing forums are moving up from Turtle Wax or the drive through car wash. To those people, I present the Adam's line because of its simplicity in use which like plenty of other products out there, yields an outstanding shine. With some of the products out there, it is like explaining rocket science on how to properly use them. Not so with Adam's, and that is why my videos are so popular. It is that easy with the Adam's line of products.
Thanks for that info, Bryan. Sheds some light on the subject.
I hope I have been able to do the same.
