What do you guys prefer for dressing wheel wells?

What do you guys use to dress wheel wells? Quite a few of the cars I do are lowered, so the wheel wells aren't noticeable enough to warrant more than a good scrub, but I'm detailing a Volvo V70 Cross Country this week and as some of you may know it's a bit high -- meaning you can see tons of wheel well. Is it safe to just spray the well (which is lined with an ungodly amount of plastic) with a light misting of Armor All?

ise use engine kote by macgyers (i can never spell that :rolleyes:) i didn't like it in my engine bay because it was too spotty but it's good for the wheel wells
 
I've been using Stoner's Trim Shine. I scrub them clean then spray a little onto the wheel well and use a foam applicator to spread it around.
 
Believe it or not, Lemon Pledge (yes, the crappy supermarket type furniture polish).



I wanted to order some Griot's Undercarriage treatment, which I've heard very good things about, but I balked at the $87 shipping & handling fee for a small order! I just don't like businesses that do that sort of thing!
 
Thanks for the quick replies guys. I went ahead and did the usual wash/scrub with Eagle One A2Z Wheel Cleaner (the world's biggest ripoff because of how quickly it goes) and then gave them a light misting of Armor All. I'll let that soak overnight and then if it's too shiny or spotty I'll rinse them with water and reapply, but buff with a sponge applicator this time.
 
I used Griot's undercarriage spray yesterday. It looked good for about an hour. The stuff was pretty runny so most of it wound up on the driveway. Prettyy oily. I would not get it again esp since it is so expensive. :down

That's what I use also. In fact, a while back, AutoZone had 48 oz bottles on sale for $4.99. I bought all 5 that they had left.

Yeah, I'm definitely not in shortage of that stuff. A neighbor moved almost a year ago and left me with a brand-new drum of it. I'd guess it at between 10 and 13 gallons.
 
the last car I did for a show came to me 2 days before the show in really bad shape. About 3 hours before the trailer came to pick up this mustang, I took off the wheels and put a quick coat of black paint over the wheel wells with a can of spray paint. I know I'm probably gonna get mocked for saying this, but it was the only way to hide the extreme overspray from when the car was painted (yes, bad paint job)

You have to let the griots dry! When you apply it, it is very greasy feeling! Do not drive the car either as eveything will stick to it. Yes it is expensive...but worth it

I use the cheapest possible Tire Foam from Wal-Mart.......



There is so much plastic under there.......and Tire foam makes it look like new again.



Wheel wells get dirty so fast that I can't see paying riduculous prices to spray under there unless its for a car show.



For car shows, I use Grape Tire Dressing.........

I use Armor-All on my wheel wells. I can't see paying alot of money for something that is going to come off in the first rain anyway.



On the show car I use either Griots Undercarriage Spray or pledge.



I may have to give tire foam a try on DD. Cheap is good :D
 
Another vote for Griot's Undercarriage Spray. I don't SPRAY it any more than I have to though (yes, it can be messy and it is very slippery due to the silicone content). I apply it with a sponge and/or a brush except for areas that I just can't reach.
 
The griots stuff is too expensive to use under there every time. I agree it does work well, but I think you should get some cheap tire spray and just spray it on liberally after each wash and you should be happy with the results.



Oh, also careful with the sprays... they will leave little "fisheyes" all over the paint and glass. Foams will do the same if you are not carefull, so I would take care of the wheel wells, after washing but before QDing.
