What are the biggest misinfos & misbeliefs?

I think what Corey is trying to point out is that if waxes were polar and could be attracted to water, the water would be able to break apart the wax, making it useless.

That is what I mean.

At least if the forces holding it on to the paint were not strong enough. But if they get weaker and weaker, the "wax" couldn't be all to durable, could it?

IMO one of the biggest misinfos is that a PC can't correct paint. This usually comes from a pro who is skilled with a rotary. PC'S can and do correct paint. Hundreds of people on Autopia use them to remove swirls, oxidation, etching, marring, and other defects.

Saying a PC doesn't correct paint as quickly as a rotary would be an accurate statement. Saying a PC doesn't correct paint is false.

Hmmm...most of what I believe to be bogus has been expressed for the most part so I'll justlet you all know what really irks me.

When I am detailing a car and a passerby says (like clockwork), "Hey, is my car next?" :angry

OR....if I am detailing a nice exotic some wise butt will always say..."Hey, is my car ready?" :argue sheesh....

They do that when I'm washing my own car.

And then they want to talk prices and they don't want to pay.

They want a full detail in and our for $35 like Delta Sonic.

Don't forget the mental giants who ask "do you detail cars?" followed by "do you really come out to where the car is?"

You guys get real comments at least. All I get is " why are you 16 and washing your parents car?" or, "Man, you sure look young, I bet you're new, make sure you don't wash the paint off"

Of course people will be iffy of a younger kid detailing a car....90% of people under the age of 17 do stupid things. Hell I didnt do such smart things or knew everything when younger neither did my friends its life... A lot of people wouldn't want you touching their car even if you may do good work.

I have another one. When someone comes by the shop with swirls and deep scratches and says "They'll buff out " or " A quick polish will take them out". And expect it done in an hour or two for $50.

They have no idea how much work it is to remove anything deeper than light swirls. And scratches can only be made to look better.

Then you explain what you can do and how much time it will take and they get this puzzled look, probably thinking is he ripping me off, because uncle Jim said " all it needs is a polish".
