Washing/Waxing/Polishing a 99 Blue Miata

QUICK SURVEY- Looking to compare ideas of other ideas of cleaning/waxing step processes (using a Porter Cable Polisher) such as...



wash with...

dewax a years layer of wax build up with...

clay...

buff/polish with... with what current polisher pad________

wax with... with what current pad________

final coat ??? of ???



I will be attempting my first detail job with a Porter Cable polisher. On my (Blue) 99 10AE. Looking for other experiences. Anybody with pictures? :-)

I'm gonna assume that you're a bit new to the serious-detailing thing, apologies if that's incorrect. Said assumption factors into my response. I'm trying to keep things simple and OTC as best I can, I could always get a *lot* more exotic with the product recommendations (the stuff *I* would use would be different).



wash with...Strong mix of Meg's Gold Class.

dewax a years layer of wax build up with...Don't bother.

clay...Mother's or ClayMagic.

buff/polish with... 1Z Paint Polish or Metallic Polish/white LC polishing pad.

wax with... Collinite 476S or 845, probably by hand on that car.

final coat..If anything, a quick pass with DuraGloss AW or just FK425.



I get 1Z products (and a lot of other stuff) at Aloha & Welcome to Our Oasis for All Your Auto Detailing Supplies & Accessories. There are a zillion other ways to go and plenty of them are just as good as the one I posted.
