i am new to this site so far i have learned quite a bit. GREAT SITE!

well my first question.

i have searched for this question already...but i still can not find it.

is there a cleaner product like megiuars cleaner wax?

edit: i would also like to mention that i have A LOT of swirls that im trying to get ride of...or at least hide. i have a black rx7 and a red rx7 both have a lot of swirls and the red one is a bit oxidized.

im deciding between megiuars cleaner wax and turtle wax, i tried going to lordco to look for zymol products but came out with no luck.

ive tried meguiars cleaner wax and it didnt last to long so i wanted to try turtle and see how long it will last, but i want something with a cleaner in it too...so does it have a cleaner with it? or is it just a pure wax?

im sorry if im using the wrong terms. im pretty new at this. another question is that

and just asking for an opinion...is it hard to learn to use a pc? ive been using a hand orbital buffer and it simply sucks...or maybe i just dont know what im doing.

thank you for the quick replies

one car is really oxidized the other just has little bumps and such. i thought of buying a three step thing, but i saw that people like to mix and match, and i do not have much experience with that.

i would also like to mention i got a gift certy to cdn tire for $25 so i want to use the money for some wax

gold class megiuars wax cost $20 at cdn tire

canadian tire does not really give me that many choices...the one near me mainly has mothers wax, meguiars and turtle and some other crappy brands.

This answer is NO way to direspect you in anyway. But I would take both vehicles to a professional detailer in you area that can remove the oxidation and bring back paint to its original color as close as possible then YOU can maintain it yourself after that. GOOD LUCK

Hmmm I do not know what they have at CDN tire sooo *I* would start using the gift cert for a clay kit (the little bumps on the paint you mentioned) either mothers or claymagic. Honestly for oxidation oh boy I dont usually need my flame suit....let me dig it out of the closet a second...hold on....there....nufinish works good for oxidation. It has something in it that works great for removing oxidation. There I said it...even though I am going to an expensive sushi restaurant right now I am keeping this flame suit on....

oh i almost forgot...pick up the gold class wax too...dont believe the hype on the bottle about protection for a year.

the black rx7 is pretty mint. i dont know how what is a deep swirl and whats a light swirl.

i tried using 3m rubbing coupound fine cut to remove scratches and swirls by hand for my red rx7 and its turning out pretty good.

but i don't know if i should use it on my black rx7 i mean its a black car and im afraid that it will just cause more.

while using megiuars cleaner wax it worked really well at removing the light swirls on my black rx7. ( i really worked it good), and like i said in the first post...i just want to know if turtle wax has a cleaner in it, if it dont im gona get a cleaner and use it before i apply the wax

and no offense taken man. i would if i did not want to learn how to do this stuff.

ill post pics before and after pics of my red rx7 and my moms civic...i think i did a real good job on her car, no swirls what so ever....thanks for the help.

but back to my original question, is turtle wax a cleaner wax?

Edit: is gold class really that good? is it a lot better then the turtle ultra gloss? i just want something that will last me for like a month to 6 weeks. i mean i wax my car every 2 weeks in summer and spring just for fun. i wash my cars almost every week.

so use nu finish on my red rx7? dont cut polish it? the oxidized rx7 is very minor and theres still a reflection to it. if that helps.

TW Ultra is a cleaner wax, and an excellent wax at that. I'm not sure how strong the cleaners are (probably light), but it *is* a cleaner wax. IMO, it gives you better looks than Megs cleaner wax. Both will last over six weeks if the paint has been prep'ed well.

Even if you use a cleaner wax, you should still start off with a dedicated pre-wax cleaner, especially if you have oxidation. Cleaner waxes are a compromise between a dedicated cleaner and a dedicated wax. It does both ok, but neither brilliantly. I've noticed that cleaner waxes that *clean less*, *look* better. TW Ultra is one of those.

My suggested steps for OTC products:

1. Mothers Clay kit

2. Mothers or Megs Pre-wax cleaner (phase 1)

3. Mothers or Megs phase 2&3, or, TW Ultra as a single step product

IMO, Gold Class is *not* better than TW Ultra. It may give you a slightly deeper look than TW, but is a PITA to use, and lasts about a week. (Having said that, Megs has just brought out a NEW Gold Class wax, which is supposed to be better in every way, but I haven't tried it yet).

Also, Megs cleaner wax which you say removed swirls, has fillers in it, so it *probably* just filled them. Still there, but filled.

I hope this is of some help.

ah ok thanks for all the great info. ill give that a try

i was actually thinking of using a pre cleaner first...but never thought of using clay...because a lot of people from other forums told me not to use it because i have a black car and EVERYTHING will show if i mess up.

ive read about how to use it. i guess if im careful i wont do damage?

Turtle Ultra is a very good wax, very close to Meguiars NXT and EAgle One Nano. Use clay from Mothers or Meguiars to clean the paint of the imbedded dirt . If you have scratches use Meguiars Scratch X or Mothers scratch remover. Put on 2 coats of Turtle Ultra and you should be good too go. As a after though get some Turtle Ultra spray detailer, use after you wash and you will keep that shine a long time.

This just doesn't feel like an Autopian thread.

Don't ask for something that will hide the swirls...

That's not right.

Turtle Wax?

Jim

Meg's Color X is an excellent OTC one step. If you opt for the Mother's Clay Kit, you will get their one-step product in the kit.

I would undoubtedly be aware of the fillers mentioned by Jim and Alfisti. IMO, you ultimately need to clay, remove swirls by polishing with a dedicated product, and then protect to achieve the optimal results.

Hang around here for a while and it will all be easy.:) Good luck!

Turtle Wax?

There's nothing *wrong* with TW Ultra, just like there's nothing *wrong* with EO Nano, NXT, or any of Mothers waxes.

They may not be the *best*, but all are fine products. These days the consumer is spoilt with a host of fine products, producing excellent results (which is what I consider *Autopian* to mean) provided the paint is prep'ed correctly. :xyxthumbs

Yes, there can be improvement, of course, but small beginning leads to the road of perfect paint (if such an animal exists :D).

The question was about a particular brand of wax, which is a good one. We simply have kindly made suggestions to better the prep and application.

thanks for the info.

as i said before...im using 3m fine cut polish to get out swirls for my red rx7 and my moms red civic but i dont have the confidence to do a black car yet because people make it sound very horrible and very harsh if i mess up...if anyone can tell me that its ok to use my 3m cut polish on my black 7...i sure will...because so far....im sick of hiding those damn swirls on my black 7.....every 3 days...i have to re apply some wax just to hide them again.

am i would like to say that i did not ask for something that will hide swirls. i asked if turtle ultra gloss wax is a cleaner wax and that is it. thats why i have been using cut polish to try to get swirls out with our other cars.

o and i would like to explain why i asked if this was a cleaner wax...i read that mother glaze and seal covers up minor swirls.

i didnt want to pay 20$ cdn for mothers 3rd step wax. so i actually wanted too use this. in this order...tell me if its a good idea.

(i will be using meguiars medium cut polish first on my red oxidized car)

1) 3m cut polish to get out all the swirls.

2) megs pre wax cleaner

3) mothers sealer and glaze

4) i thought i was going to use turtle wax. but now i found it its a cleaner. im leaning towards....don;t know what yet. but i think i read some where that if the wax has a cleaner in it...then it will clean away the sealer and glaze correct?

im still tempted to try to clay my black car...but not sure if im

ready to try it on it yet. im going try it on my red rx7 first i baught mothers clay bay system like some one here suggested.

I would try Meg's NXT. It has cleaners, and was fairly durable for me.

If I owned those cars, it would be

Polish > Klasse All-In-One > Sealant > Wax

Trying to find a product that does everything is no way to go about detailing a car. Get several products that are dedicated to doing one thing well and use them all in a process.

I'm not sure, but I think 3M fine cut polish is quite aggressive...someone can correct me on this.

I you're doing it by hand, then something like Mothers Scratch Remover or Megs ScratchX is pretty fool-proof and is effective at removing swirls/scratches. You can also use several of the pro products spoken of on this forum which can be used with both PC and by hand. I don't how available to you they are, that's why I suggested Mothers SR and ScratchX...available everywhere and good products.

When you use an abrasive polish you won't need to use a pre-wax cleaner..it becomes redundant. So:

1. Clay

2. Swirl removing polish

3. Mothers SG

4. Last step product without cleaners or delete the glaze step and just use TWU as your last step..although Mothers SG will give you a bit more depth to the finish.
