Trashed Black Paint vs Z-PC

LOL. You're pretty good on the wheel too my friend :)

When you get your wool pads in, let me know how they work (and the make), and you're results.

I don't have any heavy cut yellow CCS pads, but I'm going to pick up a few because I'm very impressed with the rest of the CCS pad line up via the rotary.

I have heard mixed reviews on the ccs pads, but I ordered a bunch also to try. Where did you order them and what size do you have.

I ordered the 5 1/4" pads from Danase for the PC, and the 6.5" from properautocare.com for rotary work.

The 6.5" CCS pads are a dream to run on the rotary, but I really don't care for them on the PC.

The 5 1/4" CCS pads sold at Danase aren't as thick and have a much better feel on the PC, but they don't operate as well on the rotary. Maybe it's me :nixweiss

Amazing improvement John! :bow

You added a good $2000 to the value of that car. I have to agree about Z-PC, does very nice corection and still leaves a really good finish. Very much reminds me of how Menzerna polishes work.

Thank You -very nice of you to say that.:thx

Holy smokes John. That was a clinic for detailing restoration. :bow

What type of steel wool did the owner use on the finish?

John: A picture is worht a thousand words as you could never have convinced me that ZPC could correct that damage.

Unfortunately, I don't think that ZPC works anywhere near as well with a pc. I was polishing my wife's red car last weekend and started with ZPC and was not satisfied, so I switched to Menzerna IP and got about 90% of the swirls out. Is it just me or are others having less than satisfactory results with ZPC applied by pc rather than a rotary?

HOLY #$%@

That is amazing. I really didnt think that the ZPC would fix that, wow!! what a mirror that car is. That is REALLY REALLY good work. You should be proud.

I aspire to be able to do that kind of correction one day.

So you would recommend the metabo over the hitachi??

Lee,

The body shop installed 80% or better of the damage on this one last Fall. They absolutely hammered the hell out of it with a rotary and wool pad on EVERY panel. The owner wanted it 'fixed', but between winter, etc.. things didn't work out.

When it showed up I said 'Holy S***' !!! I've seen nasty black paint before, but this one was exceptional.

I'm a camera novice (set to 'Auto', Full flash, and go). Trust me, the before shots looked much worse than what I captured, and the afters looked absolutely stunning under full sun.

When I started out, I tried the trustworthy mix of HTEC/OP mix, and it was a fight. I almost gave up after trying it on 2 areas and said the hell with it.

I saw a post on Autopia a week or so ago where someone just nailed black paint with Z-PC (rydawg), and said what the hell. From there, things just got better. I was floored that Z-PC from wool down to a fine polishing pad produced a black glass finish.

Hell, truth be told, I was half pissed because the car looked better than my wife's Black Tahoe, and I slave over that thing!

At any rate, Thank You for the compliment.

It really means a lot, especially on this one.

It was for a close friend, and I tried to do my best.

Z-PC's 'cutting power' is largely determined by the pad/speed you use. I've had very good luck knocking out swirls with a Green Hi-Gloss Lake Country pad @ 5 on the PC.

I know others prefer to use an orange med-cutting pad. Part of the trick is to use much less polish than you're probably used to. Z-PC only requires a few drops on the pad. If you draw a circle, or 'X' on the pad, you're using wayyyyyy to much product. I apply 4-5 very small beads/blots on the pad, and that's plenty.

Z-PC has a learning curve, but I think it's worth the time invested because it performs as well as any polish that I've ever used.

Well said John! once the learning curve is learned with zpc, the results are superb as you have shown here and I have also shown in the past. The thing I also love about zpc is the no oily residue and the fact that clean up after is easy. If clean up is hard, then one is using way too much product. As with most zaino products, a little goes a long way.
