To be specific regarding “REGGIE 11â€ post regarding what may (or may not) be a clear bra … be very careful if it’s a new car!! Go to the dealer and find out (in writing) exactly what is on the car. There is a new “spray on clear braâ€ that some dealers are putting on the car instead of the sheets of ‘Paint Protection Film’ (“PPFâ€). Once dried, it looks 'similar' and can peel off, but doesn't react well to chemical cleanings! Regardless of application (film or spray-on), get in writing the maintenance for the product on the car.

I have been thoroughly investigating the Clear-Bra systems/applications/brands/manufacturers … etc, etc.
Some films are silicone based, some plastic composites and some are petroleum based, etc. …each one will react differently to the cleaner/polisher/wax/sealant you put on it.
There was a LOT of different manufacturers pumping this stuff into the marketplace. Some good, some not so good and some down-right atrocious! Some manufacturers (especially the “number & letterâ€ company), has several different lines all private labeled to match any price point that the market or installer would pay. Each has a different chemical composition … hence the reason some yellow and some do not – yet they’re from the same 'parent company'! In my research, I’ve found I knew more about the specific type of ‘Paint Protection Film’ (“PPFâ€) in some shops, than the guys installing it! :nixweiss
Some had changed “PPF types, film companies, distributors and even brand names, but were still advertising, promoting and handing out pamphlets of the Big Name Brand Company they no longer had product for!
So many people think they have “3Mâ€ PPF because that's what they were told … but don’t! :bat
I interviewed 4 franchise owners of a “Germanesque Namedâ€ Installation Shop just mentioned in a few posts before this one and asked what the ‘manufacturer’ of the product they were using … and only 1 knew the exact name and product number they were installing. Don’t know if the others were telling me what they thought people identified with, flat out lying, or just clueless as to the product they were installing. :furious: :nomore:
So ... if you want to know the product, ask to see the wrapper the roll came shipped in and Google the product codes. Then check maintenance for that product. Only that way will you be sure what and how to maintain the product put on the car.
All this is starting to change … Recently, big manufacturers are starting to buy up the really good companies (and patents) who offer superior products, but there’s always someone looking to cut corners, so be very aware of what it is the installer is putting on your car!
Sorry for the lengthy post (again), but when I ordered a 997 Turbo Cab in October, (finally in), I just HAD to know what was the best for that car and had 6+ months to research it. :work: I just don’t believe in repainting the nose of ‘that car’ every 4 years like the last one, so I studied the PPF’s with painstaking detail.
Hope this helps.
