Spring Mass Purchase - help me choose this summers products!

I have probably five to ten people that will ask me to do a complete detail for them this summer. Also, I just got a Jet Black 1997 BMW 540i 6-speed that is in bad need of a serious hardcore detail.

That said, it's time to invest in the products that I will use on both. I have the PC and two of each pad (country lake or whatever they are), so I need chemicals, etc. Here's my inital thought.

Note: I know there's more I need for my process on paint. I need something more aggressive than Menzerna IP for the trouble areas, and then I need more than RMG or VM with a wax topper, right? I mean, that may be fine for some cars, but for my Jet Black paint job, I want depth, clarity, and longevity... make many suggestions!

Thanks,

-Evan

For paint:

Mothers Clay Bar

Menzerna IP and FP

Clearkote RMG and VM

S100 carnauba (got it already) + Pinnacle Souveran (for shows only)

For wheels/tires:

Mothers Clay Bar

Klasse All-In-One

Klasse Sealant Glaze (already have klasse twins in the garage)

For Glass:

Water+Microfibre

For Trim:

Forever Black (got it already)

For Leather:

Lexol Products (already got 'em)

For Dash:

301 Aerospace Protectant

For Compounds, consider Optimum Compound due to being a tad higher in aggressiveness than IP (More along the lines of SSR2.5); For your glazes, I don't see any reason why VM is needed when RMG is being used in conjunction with IP/FPII so you can remove that unless you were doing a quick job on a car and using the cleaning abilities of VM to avoid the polishing.

As for your LSP, nice choice! (Both products are ones I use) You can always consider Natty's Blue for that 540i too if you want to be creative. For that 540, just make sure you begin with an orange pad and a low abrasive compound first and work your way up.

Cheers and good luck!

Okay, will consider OC.

What does LSP stand for? I can't find that acronym chart...

Anybody recommend anything different or in addition?

What is natty's blue all about? How does it compare to S100? How does it compare to Souveran?

Thanks!

Ahheck,

LSP stands for Last Stage Product (Don't worry, it took me a LONG time to find that one out ;))

Regarding Natty's Blue, to some people, Natty's Blue (designed for darker cars) gives a wetter look than S100. I'm not too familar with the durability however on Natty's. When compared to Souveran, which please keep in mind, is ~60.00+ / jar, is a very good product for the price. The margin is not too significant between the products however the price margin is therefore for mass detailing, I find it hard to justify using Souveran when I can spend ~1/4 the price and use S100 or Natty's. This is of course for the mainstream detailing, I'd still easily use Souveran for higher-paying clientel who want the best or for people who don't mind paying a little bit more for a better product.

Just my .02 on Souveran

Last step product :hifive:

Welp, just put in an order for 64.oz of Menzena IP and FP, 64oz. of VM and RMG, and 32oz. of Optimum Compound. Also got a california water blade plus the duster thing. $250 or so spent including shipping, but it'll pay for itself with one "ultimate" detail. Thanks for the advice!

I'd reccomend picking up a good rim cleaner (Poorboy's Spray+Rinse, nothing else comes close without being dangerous to rims) in addition. Clay barring *bad* rims really sucks, ask me how I know :).

Have you tried Megs Wheel Brightener? If so, what do you think of it?
