Short people Tall vehicles

So what's a short (I'm 5 ft 1 on a good day) supposed to do in order to reach the center of the roof of a Surburban or other similar vehicle? I've seen ladders and steps that help you get to the top of the car/truck, but what about the center. Of course my arms are just as short as my legs are...LOL

Heck as it is I have a hard time reaching the center of the front and rear windshield of my car.:help:

a boars hair brush on a stick might help a little person like you, I am 6'5 and have no use for such a brush. lol

I saw the brushes for cleaning, but what to do about polishing with a machine? Of course stepping inside the doors is a given for me. Even on my low profile car..LOL

I bought a painters platform at Home Depot for 45 bucks. It's aluminum and has legs that extend. The actual platform is about 1x4' -30" to 40" tall and folds up out of the way when you don't need it. I'm 5'8" and I do "need" it when working on big SUV's. Don't worry about your height, everybody knows you can bend a longer stick easier than a short one.

Hmmm that werner platform looks pretty cool and not so expensive. Need to save money so I can spend more on detail products...LOL

I hate having to use any kind of platform or step ladder, but I'm a little shy of 5'9 so I have no choice. Because my driveway is sloped, I have to be really careful about injuring myself and/or damaging the car because I've come close quite a few times by me shifting my weight too much one way or the platform or ladder losing grip against the concrete.

That's what really scares me. I can see busting my tukas trying to use the UDM on one of these vehicles. Namely my brother's Surburban.

$35 at home depot...

Yeah i think a platform ladder is about as good as it is going to get. Or you could find the tallest pair of platform shoes available.

This is one girl that doesn't get along with platform shoes or spike heels...LOL:grinno:

A 4' ladder should be enough, although you might have to stand on the top step so you need good balance. Probably a 6' would be better.

Problem is not stepping up, problem is reaching over the middle. So, short of hanging of a crane or trading the vehicle my solution would be either telling bro to do his own roof or taking "who will be checking the roof from that upclose anyway" approach.

the platform ladder wont help on the suvs and pickups. It might get you there but thats all. Im 5'11" but what a beef gut, and have hard time on large vehicles such as supercrews, trailblazers, etc. Even have hard time on hoods on some vehicles. RANDAL

If you go with a platform or ladder, just make sure it's safe and secure. The one I linked to is *stable* and it doesn't shift around or wobble. I've used less-expensive ones and they gave me the willies... One nasty fall can change your life forever. At least put some friction material on the part you stand on, and make sure the legs have something that won't let them slip on a wet surface.

Randal and Accumulator thanks for the advice. I'm going to pick up something that's a bit on the sturdy side. I just don't relish the idea of falling off of a 6 ft or so ladder.
