Which 3M polish is recommended for light, minor scratches. The type one would get from being a little careless when aiming the door key for towards the lock? Thanks Jason (for directing this rookie form the archives)

Well I am assuming you are working by hand, so I suggest trying 3M Swirl Mark Remover (PN39009) by hand to try to get the light ones away. Then use 3M Perfect It II Fine Cut Rubbing Compound (PN39002) for the deeper ones. I am kinda hesitant to recommend 3M Finesse It II Finishing Material (PN39003) because some people have not so good experiences with it by hand, and it is a machine polish.

Follow up the 3M polishes with a quality sealant.

Hope this helps,

Jason

Is 3M Perfect IT for hand or machine use and 3M Finesse It II Finishing Material JUST for machine use?

3M Finesse It II can be used by hand. Like any polish, it can do more when coupled with a buffer.

I have used 3M Finesse It II by hand and gotten good results. It takes longer by hand than it would with a buffer, but the results are still good.
