Despite my love for raw HP, I enjoy small and economical cars. The trouble is, we don't have any exciting ones here. We have tons of boring or downright depressing Civics, Corollas, Cobalts, Calibers, etc but nothing like the 500, the Euro Focus, Fiesta and other nifty small cars that Europe enjoys. There are many sport models, such as the Aberth that I'd love to own as well as a wide selection of diesels and we in the US are missing the boat. I can't blame the auto makers completely for it although, the consumers have their heads up their asses as well... and bad experience with the few small cars we have received (Geo anyone?) has further made them weary. The best example and closest thing we have to look up to is the Mini Cooper. I should note that I stand by the Civic as a good all around car, as well as the Fit (as it just popped into my mind). The others don't impress me (although the new Cobalt SS does on a performance factor, it comes nowhere near the target on a general satisfaction level, as the base car is just not inspirational).
Someday we'll realign ourselves with the global market, Ford is already working towards it and rumors of Fiat and Alfa Romeo coming to America put a smile on my face.
