Review: Wolfgang Polishin' Pal Interchangeable Foam Applicator.

This review is for the Wolfgang Polishin' Pal.

I have been using some Handi-Grip Foam Applicators to apply UPP. They worked alright, but you don't seem to have solid control while applying. The entire applicator is made out of foam, so it bends easily.

So, I purchased the Wolfgang Polishin' Pal applicator. This is a HUGE improvement over the normal foam apps. I had a world's difference in control.

The 'handle' is made out of urethane, so it doesn't bend while you're applying. The 4" pads have a velcro backing, that adheres to the other backing on the handle, making it easy to change different types of pads. Although I've never used a PC before, it seems like it's basically the same thing.....without the motor.

It's a fantastic alternative for regular foam applicators. Highly reccommended!

They look like thinner 4" spot PC pads. Might be worth it just for the pads at $15.

Do you think they are durable and thick enough for use with a PC?

I just recieved my Polishing Pal yesterday and used it to apply a quick coat of Natty's. Wow! The ease and speed of application are incredible! So much less work and far more even distribution of product as there is even pressure applied to the entire surface of the pad, unlike using an applicator with only your fingers on the pad. It was much easier and quicker to spread a thin, even coat. For the tight small areas where the applicator was too bulky, I simply removed the pad from the Velcro backing plate and used it like a regular hand applicator. This applicator is excellent for applying paste wax with the entire wax round removed from the jar and, holding the round with plastic wrap, applying a single even swipe to the pad. This technique adds tremendously to even application of product on any applicator IMO. As for use on a PC, I haven't tried that.....I do own the 4" Shur-Bufs for the PC. They are a bit thicker than the pads the come with the Polishing Pal. You could certainly use the Shur-Bufs on the Polishing Pal for any spot work needed. Someone at AutoGeek may know if the PP pads are suitable for the PC.

Yeah, they are 4" Cyclo size pads. I have whites and yellows. Just wish I owned paint that would readily respond to this method.

Sounds real good for classics with original paint.

Respond well to what? 4" pads on a machine? 4" pads by hand?

Just curious as to what specifically makes it better for older paint.

I love using it to apply wax..it's got a nice cushioning effect between your hand and the paint, so you don't apply too much pressure.

E-mailed Autogeek about 10 days ago for International Shipping Prices (UK) but never got a reply so I'll try again.

I really like the look of the Pal & the 4" pads.

Yeah- if there's a group buy going on - count me in.

They look usefull! - I have a PC, but still I use hand pads for paste waxes and suchlike. These look great!

I used the black pad to apply UPP, since it was softer than the orange one.

What ado you use the orange pad for? Is that to apply paste wax?
The orange pads are listed on the autogeek website as "light cutting" from Wolfgang. I haven't used these yet, but I would think they could be useful for spot polishing for light scratches in a small area......Meg's ScratchX or a little VM or something like that?
