repairing scratched glass

i noticed my windsheild is pretty bad, there are alot of scratches on it in the direction of the windsheild wipers and some tiny pits also. i can feel all the scratches with my nails too, is there some sort of windsheild glass scratch filler? or something that would smooth it out? i dont really want to go get a new windsheild or anything, its not too bad but just looks horrible.
 
do you use Rain X? I've noticed that my scratches are slightly less visable with a fresh application of Rain X than without it.



I'm currently trying to figure out how to remove these scratches too. :(
 
Do a search for "glass polish". You could try this, but if you have pits and the scratching is that bad I doubt you can do much for it....
 
I'm with 4DSC here. Do a search. I know there have been other threads which I've read closely, which seemed chock full of information. For relatively minor scratches/mars, I've had awesome results from Zaino's glass polish ... but those were not scratches that are deep enough to feel with a fingernail.
