it certainly does wear faster as far as rubbing against it... coated leather should be much stronger ..matching hides is not easy ... that's why I'd do the whole bottom
Good point, I also notice it stains a lot quicker also...

The vinyl...I have noticed like if my jacket is rubbing against it it stains the vinyl but never the leather...
