QEW Users; my pre-soaking/winter routine

QEW is not easily accessible, but Poorboys Spray n Wipe is

What if I hatched up my own mixture of

part Spray n Wipe

part Poorboys Super Slick Suds Wash

into the pesticide sprayer ?

would that not suffice as well ?

I picked up a one gallon sprayer at Lowes yesterday for $9.97 :)

I did that too. I got the one which is entirely plastic with the adjustable sprayer. I tried it out the other day and really liked using it. Although, I definitely got some weird looks from the neighbors. :chuckle:

^ i always get those the next day, as they hear my rotary buzzing at night, (heated garage) and the temp's like -20 with windchill.. :D

I picked up the exact sprayer pictured today and gave my dad's TL my first QEWing. Sprayed the heck out of half of the car to presoak (mixed normal strength, added some #34) and the two bucket method with a wool mitt.

Did it in the garage, used a WW MF to dry and MAN does it ever look good! I really liked this method. Used 1 gal in the sprayer (filled 1.5, used 1) and the two 2.5gal buckets. Done in the garage, where it was definitely warmer than outside, in about 1/2 hr. Very excited about this method for winter (and possibly even regular) washing.

Thanks!

I just QEW'd for the first time yesterday! I didn't get a chance to pick up the sprayer, but it was raining outside and I used that as my pre-soak.

How important is pre-soaking if QEW'ing? My sheepskin mitt holds ALOT of liquid so I didn't feel like I even needed to pre-soak or even use the chenille sponge.

One thing I did notice - my sheepskin mitt was stained after the first QEW'ing. Don't know if it was the QEW or the salt grime from the winter road treatment, but it's not coming clean.

Probably the road grime. Did it turn black? Mine does when it's really dirty. That just means you'll need to rinse the mit more often.

As far as presoak, I would recommend it if you can. I just use a regular spray bottle. I mix 2-3 capfulls in the bottle so it's nice and slimey. The first thing I do is walk around the car and spray it down good. Then go back to where I started and start washing. I wash and dry a section at a time. Usually I do the roof back window and trunk, then dry it all. Then do the hood and nose. Then work from front left around the car ending front right. Great thing about QEW is that it doesnt' flash off all that fast, so its pretty forgiving as you dry it.

tried it and it did not work. there was too much soap residue left on.

I had take another pesticide canister and re-rinse.. which in turn caused me to employ the use of a two pesticide container usage. One for mixture, one for rinse. After all this, my QEW is arriving next week < sigh >
