Preparing myself

After seeing all the clean, beautiful cars on this site it makes me jealous. I am preparing myself for a full detail, every nook and cranny, on my neglected 98 Integra. Heres my plan for my paintwork after many weeks of reading through the boards and doing much research....

Dawn wash

Clay Bar (Autopia Glide & Block)

Dawn wash

Meguiars DACP applied with yellow cutting pad

Meguars SFP applied with white polishing pad

Klasse AIO applied with white polishing pad

P21s Carnauba Wax

I just wanted to get everyones opinion on my steps and product choices. I have moderate to heavy swirls and oxidation I believe the products I've chosen will take care of. Also, would it be beneficial to apply a few coats of SG before topping with P21s Carnauba? Thanks everyone.

Yes, definitely do the SG before the P21S. You'll get the protection and gloss of SG, while getting the warm of a carnauba that way. Do a coat of SG per day to let it cure.

Also, I would skip the second Dawn wash. You stripped off everything with the first one, then clayed, so there should be nothing left on the paint, so why Dawn again? I would just rinse off the car and dry.

Why? Because you are going to polish with DACP, which is going to level your clear, which will also remove anything on top of the clear. So why bother washing with Dawn twice, and risk drying out all the plastic and rubber?

Yep, Tegman. Skip that 2nd Dawn wash. If you've done some reading here, you may have noticed that Dawn is a fairly aggressive alkali, which should not really be used more than you have to.

Most importantly: :welcome and keep comin' back with other questions and observations. Great to have you here. :wavey
