Hi there all, I am using a rotary, (all I have ever used) and am getting a weird residue on the clear coat after all my runs. Currently using Evercoat triple cut, and find that I need to use alcohol to remove the residue after each run. Is this normal? It barely comes off and is extremely sticky. I thought it might be the pad, so I switched to a wool, and it definitely helped, but didn't solve the problem. I plan on picking up some different polishes and eventually a da buffer, but for now this is all I have.
For a little background, I completed a full resto on a 86 Chevy short box Silverado, and am trying to polish the clear to show (or close) finish to really impress the client. I was taught some very awful techniques over the past few years, and may have caused much of the problems I am experiencing with my ignorance. Thanks to many of you, I have learned a great many things that have drastically reduced the amount of time it takes me to get close to the finish I want. Am sure that the final step would be a da polisher, but can't afford one till the customer pays. (kind of a paradox, huh?)
I am willing to let this one go, with some imperfections, as it is now winter here in central alberta canada, and this is his daily driver. I could resume the final polish in the spring.
Thanks for reading, and special thanks for any response.
