I used 1Z Paint Polish with a yellow VC pad with the PC Set on 4. i then followed that up with a white pad and 1z metallic with the pc set on 4.

wow... what a difference it made!!! I only did the hood to test out technique and stuff. my hood is now 98% swirl free!!!

:bounce :shocked

Its a 00 Camaro. In Arrest Me Red.

i just walked back out and hit this big key mark that was in my door (went the length of the door). now I can barely see it..

what cant this thing do?

well it was a very light key mark not like... dug into the paint and primer and down to the fiberglass (happend on my other fbody can you say pissed off?)

I agree with PP being a great swirl remover. I usually use my PC @ 5 with a yellow pad. I follow up with MP on a white pad @ 4. This is a great product.

i'm tempted to go back over the hood again to take out the last few scratches that remain. think that would be okay with the yellow pad and the PP?

I'd go over with MP and white pad, I use isopropyl alcohol when I'm done to dissolve any fillers/waxes in the MP to see what paint blemishes it really did *remove*

BILL D,

What would better to remove the old wax thats on the paint now? PP or MP?

I dont have any swirls or scratches just want to remove the stuff thats on there now. ( its NXT)

To remove old wax, Dawn washing seems to be popular here followed by a regular wash while claying. I'm thinking a good wash and clay followed by an isopropyl alcohol rub down would do the trick well also. Im going to look into getting Prepsol for this purpsoe as well. I think including the isoproyl alcohol in the strategy above should remove a sealnt like NXT.

As for just the 1z polishes alone remving the wax, I'm not sure especially becuase they contain additives/fillers, I dont know if this would actually contribute to what you already have on your finish. That's why i opt for the wash/isopropyl alcohol dewax procedure first to give you a nice a fresh surface to work with

I have been a big fan of using Dawn on my vehicles. Maybe I will just use AIO.

I just recently got the 1Z PP and MP and was kinda anctious to use them. Thought maybe this would be the right time but I guess not.

I think all you'll need to do to ensure they are going to work properly is the alcohol wipe down, I know many might say that's too overboard enough but it's a pretty easy pre-step I never mind doing

No I want to completly strip half the hood and half the front fender. I am going to be applying Zaino to these area's and compare the 2 side by side.

I want to make sure the NXT is gone from these areas. I think a dawn wash would be to hard to control.

To add an isopropyl alcohol mix wipe down to those steps is probably just overkill but that's just my routine :D

Nothing wrong with that.:xyxthumbs I've tried AIO to prep for Zaino on my truck and did it the safe way on my wife's (isa/water) after polish prior to Zaino.

Did you notice any difference between the one you wiped down with IA/water and the one you didnt?

What do you mix the IA/Water 50/50? Do you wipe it till its dry or just wipe on and let dry?

I mix it 50/50 in a spray bottle and spray then wipe it dry with a MF.

Is there a difference between using alcohol or AIO to prep for Zaino? Both vehicles are different colors so it's hard to answer that.I used isa/water to prep with on my wife's for max. durability as I don't get a chance to detail hers as often as it should. And maybe it's just me that AIO/Zaino looks a tad bit better on black versus just Zaino. At this point I have AIO/Z2 and NXT/#16 both on my AV.

I've got to learn to type faster!
