Paul's new Wax has been introduced to the UK

It's super hot in Dubai, yet you can ski there! They have a 22,500 square meter indoor resort. Saw it on the travel channel yesterday.

Great job on the new wax, but since I don't have Veyron money, I don't see myself spending that much money on a wax :)

Here we go...

Just because SV is making it means nothing more than PD is using a top shelf mfg to make his pots - it does NOT mean that it is a re-labeled SV product

He has openly admited in the thead link that it's made by SV

Right fellas, the relabaling comment was meant as a joke. :) (hence the reason for the smiley)

Swissvax and Paul have worked very hard in the creation of Paul's own wax that Swisvax is manufacturing and packaging.

It is sort of like when Nike helped MJ start his own brand.

Couldn't agree any more.

Personnally, I think SV's involvement in this wax only gives it more credibility. Id be much more willing to spend alot of money on wax knowing that one of the best wax makers helped one of the best detailers create it.

If Paul had created this in his basement, or with an unknown chemical company, Id be more worried said unknown company wouldn't have enough experience in this field...

What a rip off. I am sure a $20 to $50 wax/sealant would be just as good and most people would be hard pressed to tell the difference!!

let the games begin....

and yes the wax is made by SV... wax making equipment is coslty and large. Not worth it for a small time operation.

Also this is a new wax. It is not something SV has made previously, but somerthing they deveopled for him.

As doe the 10k one, lets be realistic. Its not marketed to the average joe or detailer. Its marketed to those worth hundreds of millions with millions put into cars...

people go a wax that expensive is a waste, its not going to be better... well that depends on you defintion of better, yeah its a wax and performs as a wax... but a ferrari is better then a civic. There both cars, they both do the speed limit. so whats the point in a ferrari? Its no diffrent with wax. some can afford it, other cannot. If people want to spend there money on it then awsome. I only wish I was the one selling it to them. Heck im sure ill support the cause and end up buying some eventually.

No refills at that price???

Not a good buy IMO. It had better be a significant looking wax to justify the price. Good luck all the same.

That sentiment has been expressed many times. The fact is that if there is a market, why not create a product for it. Paul has identifyied the market and is taking a chance. As crazy as a £10,000 wax sounds, the fact reamains that there are people out there that will buy it. Paul seems to work with this type of clientele a lot and knows their needs.

What did P.T. Barnum once say? Can someone remind us.

The thing is these people don't know what they need. They see something expensive and since they have the money, they "need" to have it. I detail for a surgeon. The guy is a zillionaire with a slew of cars. When I had a jar of Souveran I told him how great it is, blah, blah, blah. I gave him the whole marketing spin. I said I'd have to charge more for an application and he was stumbling over himself expressing how much he wants me to apply it to his cars. Now he always wants it on his cars. I don't charge him more but he only proved my point exactly. And this guy is brilliant academically in every regard, but clueless as to what he needs for his detailing maintenance.

Hats off to Dalton for his marketing and money making ability from it. Honestly, more power to him. But I'll laugh in anyone's face that tries to defend this absurdly priced wax and a need for it. I think what you'll genuinely need is a trip to the nut house for examination.

I had a discussion with todd on detailing bliss. The discussion was over the price and cost of making an item, but i think it rings true on this thread as well

Western culture is a very money based, image based, materialistic society. Im sure we can both agree on that.

We buy tons of stuff to show we are higher up on the social scale. Even those who say they dont do. If you really did not care you would take the bus or carpool. you dont "need" a car but we all still have them.. it makes life easier, but we also assosiate with that we drive.

Im sure you get the question all the time, what do you drive?

We do the same thing with desginer clothes. I could make arguments about why they fir better and so on. However it comes down to image.

And with that image we are treated diffrently

A good example is when I was at a friends house. We were driking, my friends mother comes down (as loaded as we where) and starts talking to us.. we get the ussual what do your parents do. I told her my dad was a vp... she takes my plastic cup out of my hand and brings me a crytal glass... here husband goes.. *** im not even aloud to look at those. the wife (mother) says wel he knows the finner things.....

First I am not rich, not yet anyway. I live a conforatble life, but with ky dads income and 4kids we are not tich... ok back on topic.

whats the point? image is everything. So wax is no diffrent. a $30K wax is about image. Heck even pauls new wax is about image, but thats what his customers want.

I can easily justify the 2k wax.. heck i have had it 3 months and it has gone back to be refilled. I might even be bale to justify 8K....

can I justify 30k for wax? nope but that dosent mean someone else cant.

Its about image yes, we pay through the teeth for image (clothes, houses, cars, stylists, teeth witheing, ect ect ect) why is wax any diffrent?

I agree it dose not cost all that much to make, but it does make the owner look "good"

Hey man, he's creating a luxury market for waxes. If anyone complains about his wax, you can form a similar complaint about every other luxury good, including the Veyron pictured in this thread!

My girlfriend's Louis Vuitton shoes don't make her walk any better because of the red colored soles. All luxury goods are useless in that they don't satisfy a need that can't be achieved by a similar non-lux good. But that doesn't mean that someone can't sell the luxury good because of the perceived value.

The business case must have been compelling enough for SV to manufacture this in collaboration for Dalton.

Don't hate, congratulate~!

Is it our job to stop people from buying what they want? This wax is a want, definatly not a need. You are right more power to Paul.

Tiffany and Co., Zales, and the Pawn Shop...a price for all consumers.

Worth and value are subjective when someone is spending their own money.

More power to the dude.
