Paint prep and work

Ok I am about to get a 92 toyota pickup in dark red. It was hit recently so now there is an all new bed and paint job. My first question is about the new paint. Should I start to polish right away , if so the what with. #7 SEPC etc.....Ok and now for the cab. In direct light it is pretty swirled. I was thinking of starting with DACP then #9 then 26 followed by s100. Should DACP do the job for the prep. Also do I need to clay or dawn wash the paint before DACP?

Thanks, Dave

You can polish your new paint right away but you have to restrain yourself from waxing it, usually for 30 days to allow proper curing of the paint. If I was you I'd just use 3M IHG for 30 days and then polish and wax.

On the rest of the truck start with clay, no need to Dawn wash and then always try the mildest polish for the job, in your case #9 and check the results, don't like it go to DACP.

According to 3M their IHG was developed specifically for freshly painted vehicles and should be applied frequently for the first 30 days or until the paint is cured.

#7 is just a glaze so I think it should do no harm as it will still allow solvents to evaporate but I'd check with Meguiar's.
