Pad Priming Question - Diminishing Abraisives

I've read that priming the pad is very important with the new Megs line

(105/205) but my question is to what degree to you need to prime a new pad when you're using something like a poorboy's, griots or Pinnacle XMT polish? Would lightly misting it with a QD be ok as a "primer"or should you still prime the pad with product before you start polishing??

Just mist it with plain water. QD is likely to interfere with the polish.

After doing some reading about the KBM pad priming, I have started doing that every time I polish.



I use whatever polish I am working with, apply enough to the surface to wet (slightly) the whole surface of the pad. I work the polish into the pores using my finger tips.



Doing this makes the first panel I polish go as smoothly as possible. I don't use any QDs or water anymore. If the pad gets loaded up I get a new one and start over.

Very true, and it's quite possible to overdo it with M105 too. IMO most people use too much of every product.



It's easy to overdo it with M105 when attempting to KBM too. Somehow I get the feeling that people think you really use a *lot* more product with the KBM method, to the extent that they might use too much.

Yeah, I prime *all* my pads the same way. Not always so necessary with conventional products, but I do it anyhow.



I don't mist my PC/Cyclo/Flex pads with water/QD/etc. I do it with the rotary though. With the various orbitals I just prime the pads with the product I'm using.
