oxidation

What do you use to seal a red car without clear coat to keep down the oxidation. I used Collinete, next time I used #26 paste.

Before Collinete I polished the paint clean.

A carnauba wax is fine for good looks, but it's not a good sealant. If you want to protect the paint long-term, you should use a synthetic wax (sealant). Around here, the popular sealant products are:

Blackfire

Zaino

Klasse

Washing and waxing the car regularly may be a good alternative to using a sealant, but it will never replace the value of one. Something like Zaino or Klasse will protect your car against oxidation for months at a time. Blackfire will do the same. Those products are designed to look great and protect for the long haul. Don't be fooled by the "5 year sealants" or the "once a year car wax". They don't work.

Something you may have access to off the shelf would be Meguiar's #20 polymer sealant. It will protect your car from oxidation and should be availible where Meguiar's products are sold. If you can't find it where you normally buy your products then ask them if they can order it. :)

This album has some examples of how Klasse works on a red car I did that had no clear coat. Some damage can't be fixed without repainting the car, but you can see how the Klasse cut through the oxidation and left a pretty good shine behind. Really good stuff. :xyxthumbs

If you want the carnauba dept and look, and you are happy with collinite (a great product, long lasting and shiney IMO). I would first use klasse AIO as the base (you will get the protection of a sealant thatwe are all talking about, and AIO is one of the best) and then use collinite over that. Everyone is happy.;)

Thanks guys for the comback. I just purchased the E-Book so I have a lot to read and think about. The Klasse AIO i believe will be my next purchase.

Hal724, just a note, when you quote someone, then you can scroll down to the end of their quote and put the cursor there so your comments end up below the quote and not within the quote box.

Meguiars Dual Action Cleaner Polish is one of the best products for removing oxidation. Needs to be used by a buffer. Very consistent results.

Even with oxidation removed, I've found in my struggle to get something great on that minimizes oxidation that any liquid will cause color to come up. That's why I shifted to Blackfire this fall. To have the sealant last longer.

But I have also found out that Paste Waxes don't bring up color. I've used P21S, 3M Perfect-It Paste, and Meguiars #26 Hard Yellow Wax. This leads me to believe that these paste waxes are actually the mildest.

I'm topping Blackfire with a Carnauba to see if that helps. It sure looks great that way. I'm sure it would have similar results with Klasse All In One.
