Optimum Instant Detailer

OID vs. ONR mixed at QD strength; has anyone tried this comparison? In my experience, ONR QD leaves reds looking as shiny as the SC430 in the first post. Heck, even ONR at wash strength gets pretty darn close.

I had just washed it with ONR before using OID on it, OID noticably amped up the gloss and wetness.
 
Although I found FK425 to be a great product I have always gone back to QuiikShine as my go to QD. However, I was running low and thought I would try a gallon (concentrate) of the OID. I finally got around to mixing up a batch this weekend and must admit I was mightily impressed. I was stunned by how slick it made my paint....it also seems to be doing a good job on the pollen today. It is hard to tell at this point but the cost, looks, slickness are fantastic and if it helps with pollen then count me in forever.....regardless of durability.



Wonder if I will still feel this way in a month? QuikShine is still better for glass but for now I am extremely pleased. I have just about gotten to the point that I believe the entire Optimum line to be fantastic products at very reasonable prices. I don't have a very difficult time pulling the trigger on Optimum's new products because I have had great experience with all of them.

But are you doing the ONR wash at QD strength?

(I'm curious too as to how the OID would compare to ONR @6-8oz/gal.)

ONR at QD strength is great, but will not compare to FK425 or OID as far as gloss and slickness.

So If I use ONR at QD strength, what would I use this OID for?

(Note: I use ONR to wash sprayed on at QD strength+ (8oz/gal) - I use AW right now as a topper (over DG TPP 105).

I was just trying to see the right fit for OID relative to ONR at QD strength.

I've tried all of two Optimum products, and I am extremely pleased with both of them (ONR and OS). In fact, I just detailed my Arctic Silver Lotus this weekend, and after considering my alternatives for an LSP, I decided to go with OS. I'm glad I did! I will try to post pics in the click and brag section soon.



Similarly, I have been extremely impressed with the FK1 products I have tried, including FK 425 (I have tried their Car Wash, and it was perfectly acceptable, although not as good as my long time favorite, Perls).



Do you notice any difference in the appearance between 425 and OID? I love 425, but might consider trying OID when I run out of the 425.

They are both QD's, but I like FK425 better, although ONR is much cheaper.

IMO 425 is better than OID. Just an opinion. Opinions are like a** holes, everyone has one.

I was more wondering about ONR vs. OID - I mean have you ever wondered - ONR is pretty awesome at 8oz/gal - would it be nearly equal to OID at 16oz/gal???

(Just thinking out loud)

As I said before, I like 425 better than OID, but OID is much better than ONR at QD strength.

I think I answered your question. OID is better than ONR (Qd strength), but ONR is cheaper. And I like 425 better than the two mentioned. BTW it is obvious that you haven't tried OID, so try it out and see what you like best.
 
I just started using OID; got a 32oz concentrate to give a whirl. I've only used it on a few cars, but so far so good. Definitely a cost effective qd that performs well. I like 425 better too (so far), but for me it's harder to get.

They have different chemistry, so if you are thinking that OID is simply ONR at QD strength with some added fragrance, you would be wrong. ;)
 
I've been using Prime/AJT/Quickshine



I read where it looks like the OptiSeal can be used over AJT. Maybe I'll swith to that and the Optimum Instant Detailer.



Hard to beat Quickshine for me. Great for a spruce up before the car shows.

DG FC&S 921 or the marine version 521 definitely has more cleaners than either Quikshine or 425. I tend to use them when wiping down wheels or stubborn bird bombs. 425 or OID is perfect for after washing gloss and slickness.
