New Gal On The Block

BIGLEEGR, thanks for all the input:)

Okay, I've learned quite a bit since I posted the above on the water spots. The MR. CLEAN AUTODRY has a similar concept. I've found some info on water softeners that you can hook up to your water to eliminate spots - that's what I want!!!!! Not badly priced either - still looking around to see what else is out there that does the same job. Wonder if enough people wanted this if we could get a better price?????

Never say never......I know where that busy bee is at I've seen a lot of $$$ cars being washed there. It's near Dade land mall if I remember correctly just before Hooligans (coming from the South at least).

WYTSTANG, nope, it's the one down on Dixie and about 172nd, or around those parts. Going south, after the split by the Hess, on the right side.

******

I went ahead and contacted the company about the water filter, which attaches to your hose. Anyone ever heard about this? I tried to do a search on here and came up with nada. I'm waiting to see what he has to say - I may buy one and be a guinea pig!:lol

Hey I found this Water FIlter on another detailing forum they say it works great for not leaving spots. Good luck

CharlesW says you can buy a water filter at most RV stores that attaches to the faucet. The hose then attaches to it. I guess it might work also.

JOYRIDE, I saw your pics of your mini - nice car! I also saw noticed the pics of the wall in the background and said to myself that I know that wall - but just can't place it right now. Is that near the Falls? I too am in Kendall :)

I do realize that there's a lot of fakes down here in Miami - geez, just look how many people get arrested down here for pretending to be a Dr.! I called a couple places to ask what they use and how much they charge. One place on Dixie Hwy that I know of was about one of only two places I could find on the web that was mentioned that had a good reputation, BUSY BEE.

You are such a doll to offer to help me learn.:angel You really think you'll be able to teach an old dog a new trick?:beat Maybe you can teach me to keep my car looking in tip-top shape and I can teach you the fine art of being a bargain hunter!:lol Seriously, people call me to find them the best prices on stuff-I love the thrill of "the hunt."

So, what products do you find are good down here since you live here? What have you found works for you, and what doesn't? Is this a passion for you or a business, or a combo of both? Hey, maybe we can have a detail party!!!:dj

TERMIGATOR, thanks for the welcom:D Maybe we can solve the mystery of the water spots with dealers - if there's an explanation out there, I'll find it! Actually, have to p/u some t/u paint from the dealer some day soon, so I'll put that on my list of things to ask.

MILKY, thanks for welcoming me aboard - nice to see that there's other ladies out there :dancin . Ookay, maybe it's my mind no kicking in so early this morning, but what is PAC? I guess I'll be keeping some much needed supplies in the car with me to help me deal with the BS. Will check out Poorboys - thanks!

RUBITOUT- THANKS :)

JARED, thanks - every bit helps - I'm learning a lot from you and others on this board. I guess having flouride in our water doesn't help much either:huh I just don't want to get OCD from these water spots - I've got enough issues to deal with that I don't need another one!!!:lol

THANKS!!!!!

:dcrules

u're right. i do live near the falls. right near killian high school. busybee has a good reputation to the peoples eye. but in any of ours it would just put us to shame. i guess its because they have tooo many workers and not enough skilled professioanls regulating on them im talking about the busy bee on us1 near south motors bmw

Posted on anothe forum on the site about DEIONIZED WATER if anyone is interested :)

JOYRIDE, I knew I knew that wall! So, you live near OJ, eh?:lol
So, who would YOU trust to take your care to here in SOFLA if you didn't do your own detailing????

Hi Debbie! It's always nice to welcome another gal to Detail City. :welcome

I think you'll find this to be a very friendly site with many helpful folks. Keep asking questions, and we'll all try to pitch in where we can.

to be honest. i really dont know. there was thing one guy who washed my car a couple tiems before i got into detailing. i asked him for a wash and wax and i saw him do sooo many different steps. i would ask him what he was doing and all the answers he would give me were related to detailing steps. he left my car looking good. ive since then have been trying to find him. im worried he's out of business. i wanna find him, not for me, but for my parents, who dont quite leave the car parked at home long enough to let me at em.

by the way,

please oh please let me detail that suv, its black and everything. that way i can post it on HERE! lol...

i have a thing for black cars.

AWD, thanks for the welcome:D I've already seen what a great bunch of people are on this board - it's just what I was looking for!!!

JOY, got your PM, will reply in the morning. I see some great detailed cars around - should I be able to actually find someone to ask where they get it done I surely will - definitely not shy;)

Uh oh! Ummm, my car is dark blue:lol It's called MOONLIT BLUE, but to me it should be MIDNIGHT BLUE - I guess it could of been mistaken for black;) Still want to detail it??? How about this - I still have to decide which stuff to buy (still deciding, but zeroing in on a couple brands), then you can come help show me the ropes. How long have you been detailing? Thanks for your offer - your parents are missing out, I'd say - why pay for it if you can do a great job for them?

Debbie

my thoughts exactly. but with my dad never really knowing when hes gonna be home and my mom constantly at work, they never really leave their cars longer than an hour for em to actually work on it. and giving those car a simple wash doesnt give them justice. i dont want them to think that my work looks like that. if they were to let me detail it once, each vehicle, id have no problem maintaining it. but giving my parents, or people in general simple washes doesnt cut it for me, not unless its been detailed first.

AND YES I STILL WANNA DETAIL IT. BECAUSE I know if i make u happy with your car, u're non-shy voice will reach quite a few people giving me more clients IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. im not exactly what u call a mobile service but sure as heck wouldnt mind keeping it in the neighborhood. im not really going for a profession with this, but more of a hobby that throws me some cash here and there. :)

Ya know, this might seem silly, but if you are wanting to rinse your vehicle down every now and then and not have to worry about waterspots without wiping, you could just get the thing by Mr. Clean. I have one and it actually works. I wouldn't recommend it for serious detailing, but it's alright for just rinsing off your car if you don't want to bother with wiping it.

Okay JOY, sounds good to me. I have to say, I'm pretty picky about this new car, so you do a great job and I'll HAPPILY sing your praises to all. My OH has a guy at work that does detailing and he says that the guy does a fairly good job on the outside but not so on the inside - OH is more picky about the interior. Sorry, fairly good job won't cut it for me. His car needs some help, so maybe something I'd do for his birthday - though it may be like a slap in the face for his worker. Anyhow, still have to get the stuff.

Do you belong to the car club for the mini coopers? I know the place where I have a storage unit, the guy has a new and a vintage mini and he's in some club down here - how about those people as possible targets?

TERM, I actually do have one of those Mr. Clean things - okay, let me rephrase that. I have one in the house that was to be a Xmas present that I didn't give to the intended which will be re-wrapped and given as a bday present in July. So technically I have it, but it's not mine;) I'm really seriously thinking about getting this deionized water filter - it seems to work sort of on the same concept as the Mr. Clean but has no cleaning solutions involved, just for rinsing.

Hope you all have a great day - I was up waaay to early - kid had a field trip to get to by 6am!

:welcome Debelli
There are plenty of good people here to help you so don't worry.

I keep a bottle of S&W in my trunk with a few MF for when the birds have there "targeting systems" on, or if I want to give my car a quick go over during lunch :)

Good luck and have fun

if u're refereing to minis of miami, i think i was part of it for a month, after that there were sooo many cancellatations and no events tht i pretty much stopped going. i did detail 2 of the cars from there but the people are actually pretty self knowledgeable when it comes to keeping their car in good shape.

Thanks for the welcome JAYBS:D S&W? I'm still learning:newbie

JOY, not sure the name of the club, just knew he belonged when I commented on his black cooper.

S&W would be Poorboys Spray and Wipe. I :bow to it every morning. It's the best stuff since sliced bread! It will allow you to wash your Midnight Moonlite Santy whenever you want without water and without fear of damage.

:welcome to the City.

This Anacronym list will help with our secret language here.

Thanks DALMORE, I appreciate the anacronym list lesson - never heard of the stuff before. Is that like MEGUIARS QUICK DETAIL, or something along the lines of the name?

It's somewhat similar but also very different. S&W is really a waterless car wash. It doesn't leave any extra protection behind like Meg's QD. By the same token, it is an excellent cleaner that provides enough lubrication that you don't scratch your paint like you can with QD if your car is more than a little dusty.

So my answer is an unequivical: "sort of, but not really."

Helpful, aren't I? :D
