My personal car got egged last night

What the hell is wrong with people???

10:45pm, coming home from PoCo, driving down mariner, and THWACK!

What the hell was that?

I pull over at the Thrifty's and look, all I can see is goo all over the side of my car... I'm pissed, but I don't have any weapons in the car, so I decide to take the upper road and just go clean it off... I was washing my car until in the dark because of these ****ers >:(

This morning I go out, look, and WTFMATE!?!?!? How could it eat in when I washed it off less than 30 minutes after it happened?

Oh, and the car even had a fresh coat of Klasse SG, topped with P21S

The scratches are from the shell. When it breaks it turns into razors and cuts into the paint. It will probably be too deep to fully remove without paint. It is worth a shot though. Goodluck. There isn't much you can do about it now besides try and fix it.

Yup that is what paint looks like when it has been hit with an egg. As said above, the shell actually cuts into the paint, leaving little nicks.

Reading is fun!

I've never had to toy with egging damage, but I know it's happened to several people on this forum; hope you can get it cleaned up with minimal effort / time / money

The ONLY way you can fix this problem is by repainting it. You're wasting your time touching it up and buffing it. Make sure the body shop blends color into the fender or it won't match. Sorry.

can you try to touch it up with clear coat to fill those gaps and then sand it down even? i've never had to deal with it but if it's the shell cutting into the paint, seems like you could put some clear touch-up on it and see if that works.

I just removed key marks worse than that from a black Mitsubishi Endeavor a couple of weeks ago. If you are rotary proficient give it a go or take it to a pro. Its worth a shot.

uh, that may be deceptively deep guys. My mothers car got hit the other day and had the same egshell damage. clear through the paint to the primer.

I was thinking the same thing. Got hit like that 20 years ago on a Plymouth we owned and it cut right through to the primer. Maybe the 123 touchup might work but otherwise I think you're looking at a repaint. That sucks, why can't people just grow up and leave cars alone?

Sorry to hear about the car! I'd be fuming if it was mine. What's with all the egg incidents lately? Must be the summer and kids with nothing to do.

I saw the word 'paintball' mentioned earlier. My white Saturn was hit in the bumper by a paintball pellet and I never bothered to take it off (pre-autopia days.) When I finally got around to it, the paint was gone down to the plastic. I don't know if the impact chipped some paint off or if the paint itself had been eaten away.
