My microfiber has gone...stale

I use a hot wash and a cold rinse w/ a free detergent, is this correct??

Also how do you test MF to see if they are still good?

Well I tried one of the microfiber washes, soaked them in that for about an hour with agitation on every few minutes, then rinsed a good 3 times.

The waffle weave is the only problem. It will not absorb water much. I have rinsed it a good 4 times now, going on the fifth. The water is clear. when it dries and I put water on it, it beads up before being absorbed.

If I can't fix her then I'm going to put her aside and get the $6 target microfiber drying towel. It's lasting 11 months--do I want to spend $15 on a towel every year?

I'm thinking it could be something to do with the Eagle One Wax As You Dry.

I bet that's it. Not sure why it won't wash out though  Shouldn't be any worse than washing products out of microfiber applicators/etc.

Hmmm...now that you mention it, I started having problems with my MF after I started using WAUD. Could be just coincidence, but now I'm curious. I'll see what my Charlie's Soap does to 'em (get my gallon tomorrow! :bounce )

I have had no problems with my WW .. but I don't use WAUD or seldomly ever QD sprays.

Have you thought about JT Internationals 24 x 24 drying towels .. they work really well .. I have a 1/2 doz of them and I pre dry with one and final dry with the second .. right hand left hand. The only place the WW is a lot better is on windows. JTs are about $4 each.

What kind of towels are these? You say WW are better on windows so I assume the JT INT drying towel isn't WW MF.

Its a plush MF .. the one on the right

towels

That looks like my PakShak 24 x 24 towel.

If you prefer the plush regular type of MF for drying more than WW MF you should check out the Simonz Drying Towel at Canadian Tire. It's huge and very plush. It's exactly the same as the ones that they sell in the U.S. Walmarts.

The Simoniz towel is something like $16 at C-T and doesn't perform any where near as well .. I can get a 30 x 40 for $7 .. but they are just too big ..

The one on the left is a PakShak WW

I prefer the WW .. I was just offering Corey an alternate to look at.

BTW I live 11 miles from the US by road .. 4 miles out my back door as the crow flies..

Stevet, awesome--I'm not far from canada :) 30 minutes or so.

I believe it may have something to do with my experiment awhile back. I put a few drops of Liquid Souveran in my WAUD. :o It worked well despite the gunking up of the WW over time.

Maybe I'll catch a sale on towels and pick up another. I'll keep my current one for windows.

Oh no, i haven't. But for that cheap, it would keep me going for awhile!

Corey,

I don't use WAUD but after using 1Z Lackfinish after a final rinse, I noticed the next time I used my clean WW towel, it just didn't soak up water as well either. I read a thread on Charile's Soap and ordered up the APC and the liquid laudry soap. They suggest you run an empty load using their soap first to clean out the detergent builld-up in your washer. Once that was done, I ran a load with no vinegar rinse and the towels came out great, no squishy sound when going from the washer to the dryer and very soft. If you have a trouble towel, I highly suggest soaking it in an APC solution before going to the machine, it will make a difference.
