Miracle Brake Dust Killer?

Not sure but stumbled upon this stuff....

Called Wheel Shield and of course makes big claims (as always) but as most in here, always curious for the next magic trick. Love the claim that it protects against brake dust for ONE YEAR!

I clean my wheels regularly so I merely have to wipe dust off but figured I'd show this to the masses...let the debate begin.

I tried it and its no better than using Aqua Wax.

figured as much. didn't think it would make brake dust literally slide off--even AW doesn't allow that.

I dont think anything is going to help with brake dust as Im sure that it is still hot or warm when it hits the wheels and Im sure the heat from that will casue the particals to stick to what ever product is on there.

I agree with Scott, I have Akebono Cermaic Pads and they are the best. Low to no dusting at all. I highly recommend them.

Ceramic pads are the cure. The ceramic dust doesn't stick to the wheels.

Definitely. I switched to ceramic pads on my Navigator, Mustang and my son's Cadillac all with custom chrome rims and the dusting is virtually non existent.

It would be nice if there were something that actually stopped dusting for a year. I went the cheapo route and bought a soft set of duralast pads for my front brakes. They dust like crazy, but they stop the car much more smoothly since my rotors are warped.

I have Ceramic Composite Rotors on my 997 and get no brake dust. My car is black and therefore gets washed twice/week during the summer driving season however I have only washed my wheels 3 times this summer to get the road dirt off.

I agree.

Probably just more wild claims that will fall short. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me... I've already been down this road once (with the miracle cure - Poorboy's Wheel Sealant) and it was a HUGE disappointment.

The answer has been posted by Scott. Ceramic pads!

I use Poorboy's sealant, and love it. The dust just wipes off nicely, with lubrication. I have not heard of ceramic pads. Are they available for all vehicles, and are they significantly more costly? I will definitely try those when the time comes.

Well, I was using NXT 2.0 and wasn't that happy with it, UNTIL I tried the PB's Wheel Sealant. The NXT is no great shakes either, but compared to the PB's it is AMAZING. So if you think the PB's is good, I'd recommend NXT. (I actually just sent the remaining PB's stuff to an autopia member for free... just to get it out of my garage).

Ceramic can pretty much be found for every car. Lexus offers a free pad replacement (under warranty) for customers who complain about dusting.

Thanks for the advice re NXT. I am curious..what did you find to be the difference? Keeping the dust from staying on the wheel in the first place, or the ease to wipe it off? With Poorboy's I see the dust on the wheel, but it wipes off very easily without too much effort. My wheels are pretty new and clean though.

EDIT: USER NAME, nevermind, I just saw your previous posts on PB, which answered my question above.
