MF Bonnets

Are these necessary for a PC for buffing out the product or could I just use a mf towel? I want no swirls or anything from the towel. Who uses a bonnet to complete the last coat or do you use the bonnet also for taking off polishing and compounds? Also can I use 6.5" pads on the 6" MF bonnets or do i need a lambswool leveling pad?

I\'ve never used a MF bonnet because I thought they were a waste of $$$. I\'d rather buy the best MF towels I can find and use a \"trap the towel\" method with a PC instead of spending $$$ on bonnets. Also, I bought the PC to save wear \'n tear on my elbows & shoulders so why not use it to remove LSP residue?

I have a clean 6\" pad that\'s getting a bit \"fuzzy\" so it tends to hold the MF towel like velcro and I\'ve never had a problem using this method. My Accord is Silver Metallic so this method may not deliver satisfactory results on dark colors, YMMV so test somewhere low and inconspicous.

Got to make sure to flip the towel over and use clean portions of the towel.

Trap the towel. Now that is a creative idea.

I got two microfiber bonnets for free from somewhere. Anyhow I think that I used them one time.

if you apply a nice, even, and thin coat, removal will be easy. i use a quality mf towel and remove by hand...

I think that he is saying that he uses a foam pad and wraps a MF towel around it and then "velcos" the towel and pad to the backing plate.

I use MF bonnets to buff off LSPs quite often, works well for me, but I still do a quick follow-up by hand to get that last 1% of residue that the MF bonnets alway seem to leave behind.

I am fairly new to detailing and so far I have been buffing off my LSP by hand with a MF towel. I do have some bonnets and I may try them again in the future, but at this time its fits my flow to just do it by hand. It goes pretty quick with the LSP I am using.

so MF Bonnets are not for every step of using the PC when applying product, it is only for LSP?

I would say Yes, only for "removal of LSPs" and also buffing (but a MF towel does a better job buffing)

I would say Yes, for "removal of LSPs" and also buffing after an LSP has been removed (but a MF towel does a better job buffing)
