Meguiars Ultimate Protectant

You and I must have different products. I've had this on my RX for several weeks and it doesn't wash off in the rain. It doesn't wash off in routine weekly washing either. This stuff lasts for weeks for me.

That's why I purchased it. I wanted something that lasts for more than one wash or rain. It didn't. I cleaned the area well and applied Ultimate Protectant with a MF towel. Let it sit for about 10 min and it looked blotchy so I applied some more and it looked better so I applied some more again. It looked decent at that point so I let it sit for 10 min and buffed with a MF. When I did this it looked un even. First rain and it was gone. I wanted this to work because finding something for the cowling between the hood and windshield that lasts has been a failure so far. I picked this up on Monday so I will play with it some more and see what happens.

Very odd. Dumb question but I assume you are shaking the bottle well?

I have used this product for several months now and i get nothing but good results on vinyl/plastic trim. Exterior mirrors and windshield cowling bead water even after a few car washes and or rainstorms. No blotchy or streaky looking surface either. I suspect it may be something about your particular trim that is causing it?? Strange....

I normally apply with a foam applicator and use a very small amount and work into the trim well. I DO NOT buff later with a MF, but rather just let my initial app dry which is very quick.

I must have a defective product because I applied this to my front windshield cowl and it lasted a bit more than one week, possibly two rainshowers. And yea, the container design is pitiful. I think I'm gonna write Meguiars a "fail" letter.

I will experiment with it before I write it off. As I said I picked it up Monday so I have only had it a few days. Rained here yesterday and it looks like I didn't apply anything.

Do you find the bottle to be annoying? When tying to put the product on what ever applicator you use a bunch of it ends up in the recessed part of the lid.

I concur on the bottle design. I don't particularly like the bottle. Odd that our experience with the content is so different. Must be either a defect in the product you received or something different with the trim on your vehicle.

Oh come on guys--it's an Axe body wash bottle, whaddya want?? The stuff has been fantastic on a faded windshield cowling I tried it on, just used it the other day on some similar wheel arch pieces...have to see on those, seemed to take a couple of apps on the cowling before it settled down.

As for the bottle, it gets messy around the opening but otherwise, it's OK. But that's not the issue.

This time, i used a foam applicator pad and "tried" to use very little product. Like Anthony, i had to

do several applications and even then it was blotchy. With a damp MF towel, i just wiped it all off

as the finish is, well, not very good. And, yes, i did shake the bottle.

jfelbab, try it on the interior.

Could it be that i have a bad batch? it's possible as it has happened to me before (paint products).

But, i don't think i'll buy another to find out...i use plenty of Megs products but this one isn't ultimate.

Now im gonna try and cut with something; maybe water to make it more usefull? Tire dressing?

Flashtime, is it possible you've got some other product residue on there that the UP is floating on in spots? Or maybe it works best on really faded, UV damaged stuff where it can kind of absorb in?

I am really happy with QID on the interior. I use Leather Masters on the leather and QID on the vinyl with great success. I don't want any added gloss or glare on the interior so I'll stick with QID. For me the big plus of UP is that it lasts so long on the exterior surfaces.

It's unlikely... Gonna try this again...

LOL...I know we've been over this like 6 times already. It may just be that some of these surfaces are different and react differently. Or bad bottle, I dunno. I was just using my old sample of Meg's 21 that's all watery and I can't get it to mix back up--if you can get the product on the paint instead of the water, it's pretty good!

Tomorrow, i'll give this stuff one more go on an 09 Lexus ES350 (the interior). If it's blotchy again...i'll use it on my leather boots.

Meguiars has a money back guarantee if you don't like their product. I purchased NXT paste at Walmart last summer and didn't like it at all and returned it no problem.

Not to run this thread too off course but I just had that same thing happen to a bottle of M21 2.0. I used it once and it was fine and went to use it again and it was watery. It was not like it separated with all the hard gunk at the bottom, the whole bottle turned from a lotion like consistency to a watery mess. It was stored in the same cabinet with a half used bottle of the original M21, a bottle of NXT 2.0 and a dozen other LSP's, which were all just fine so the storage environment was not the issue. Meg's replaced it immediately.

Back to the OP, why not call Meg's and explain the issue and see of they won't replace it. It may be a bad bottle. They have an 800 number on the label and in my experience will do whatever it takes to see that your are satisfied with your purchase.

Good to know they have great customer service! But for $10 bucks..i'll find a way to use it. What if i mix it up Black Wow?!?

Maybe two disappointing products can...

i chickened out on the ES 350. The dash is like the GS and a glossy/satiny finish wouldn't look right anyway.

But may just try on an 08 BMW 530i tomorrow. Maybe...don't feel like fighting this product...
