Looking to buy a new rotary, a little assistance please

Don't take my not liking the Makita the wrong way, I only *really* like using the Cyclo ;)

Really you prefer the Cyclo over the Metabo, I'm the opposite. I prefer the Metabo. The Metabo is the go to machine for me, it really feels confortable in your hands and the more you use it the better it feels. My vote is for the Metabo it has the best of all worlds, weight, positioning and power :woot2:



I use the Cyclo for giving the paint that extra pop :lock:

Note that my preference is possibly a matter of familiarity; I've been using the Cyclo for over twenty years and Haven't used the Metabo for twenty hours yet ;)



And, noting that personal preferences are a funny thing, I just *love* the ergonomics of the Cyclo. If I were designing a polisher from scratch that's probably what I'd come up with. The Metabo is a bit "PC-like" and I pretty much despise the PC's ergonomics :nixweiss
 
This is one of those topics that falls back to preference. It's good to get everyones opinions though, this is what this site is all about and why I love it so much but it's like asking what is the best polish for defect removal. I mysel;f haven't tried alot of things but it does go back to finding what works for you and making the right choice for you. I'm sure if you bought whichever one, used it with several products to give it a real test for usage, and you didn't like one over the other just return it and go with another one. Trial and error. I have looked into all but the Hitachi for a rotary and I am still trying to make up my mind but for what it's worth I might go with a Dewalt because of the RPM dial. I would like to have a better control over the speed than have something lighter like the Makita and not have a dial with specific RPM settings. Just my 2 cents.

Well I just ordered the Hitachi tonight and it ended up costing me $157 with free shipping. I was able to find in stock at toolup.com and figured I better jump on it before it was sold out. Mike...
 
I was wrong got an email saying my order was cancelled due to the Hitachi being out of stock. This sucks and now I am out trying to find another site that has one in stock. Mike...



EDIT- I ended up ordering one from ACETOOLONLINE.com for $187 shipped. It pisses me off when sites don't let you know when something is out of stock until you order. I hope that I get it before this weekend so I can do my truck.

Wow that is a long time, I must agree with you about the Cyclo it really does have a good feeling. The only thing I didn't like about the PC is the vibration, I know what you mean about the Metabo and the PC...some what a like.
